According to an un-named source within Bizarre, Microsoft had effectively fired Bizarre Creations from working on the future of the Microsoft owned PGR series prior to the acqusition of Bizarre Creations by Activision. No reason has been given as to why MS would wish to fire Bizarre, but perhaps they just felt it was time to try something new.

Before its recent acquisition by Activision, Bizarre Creations had already been told by Microsoft that it would no longer be used for the development of future instalments of the microsoft-owned PGR series - thus ending a close working relationship and presumably prompting Bizarre's eventual sale.

According to a source within Bizarre who cannot be named (such is the way with such things), Microsoft had informed Bizarre that it would be taking development of future Gotham games in-house, before its then owners had decided to put the developer up for sale.

No reason was given for why Microsoft decided to do this, but if it’s true – and bear in mind that neither Microsoft nor Bizarre have commented on this in an official capacity – it certainly adds an interesting twist to the unfolding saga, which has dominated the gaming headlines since it was announced on Tuesday.

Bizzare Creations is what PGR is all about you cant expect anyone else to make the game anywhere as good as them just like you cant expect anyone to make MGS games as good as the genius Hideo Kojima ;).Bizzare will just make another racing game with different name & microcrap can keep their PGR brand name

Wait there's something wrong.Yesterday MS said that Bizarre will keep making PGR only for the 360?!?! If any other devs try to do this game, I won't buy it.

No they said they will continue PGR (MS) MS owns the rights to PGR - so someone else will develop the next installment

as far as firing rumor, PLEASE :)

I don't how they'll improve the series after the 4th one... I wanna see something new like another Bioshock like game in creativitly.

So they ll do pgr5 their own and sure it ll end up like topspin 2 developed by 2k first one great second ms made one super crap. They seem to like to dig their own grave,I think pgr4 would really be the 9.5 game of 2007 not that shitty halo 3, and what they do they do ? Fire the only developer that made the title since first chapter ?
I am gonna laugh in a an year with a pgr4 like game on a ps3...

Well proper motorbikes not company rejects and prototypes is one. I think the inclusion of bikes is something new and could have been developed alot more in future games to take pgr in a fresh direction.

Only thing I can think of is that maybe some key people resigned from Bizarre, which greatly devalued the company in Microsoft's eyes as a developer.

Sort of like how when most of the senior staff and designers of Clover left Clover to start a new company... leaving only the "grunts" behind. Capcom was like "Well, wtf, why bothering keeping it? The talent is gone."

my guess is that bizzarre realized how valuable they are as an exclusive xbox dev, demanded too much money for the next pgr, and MS wasn't willing to pony up. as much $$$ as M$ has, they still need to turn a profit.
