View Full Version : Halo 3 Smashes AU Sales Records - biggest first day AU entertainment release
No surprises here, according to Microsoft PR staff, over 50,000 copies of Halo 3 have been sold to Australian consumers during the first day of the games release racking up over $6 million AUD. In itself these figures result in Halo 3 claiming the biggest first day digital entertainment release in Australia.
You have to give Microsoft and Bungie some credit. They rolled out the hype thick and fast with Halo 3; the end result clearly outweighing the initial expenditure. In short, Bungie is laughing all the way to the bank.
According to Microsoft PR, more than 50,000 copies of Halo 3 had been sold and Australian consumers spent more than AU$6 million in just 24 hours. That makes Halo 3's debut the biggest first-day digital entertainment.

The European Union has 700 million people, the United States of America has 310 million and the Commonwealth of Australia has 24 million (edit: from what I recall of the last time I checked). We're a Nintendo country as well.

we are not nintendo. (well we are DS)
But the 360 is still in the lead if i am correct. I thought we only had about 22-23 million population.

but this country is a gamers void, high levels of heat and plenty of sun equals a lack of nerds playing computer games and more people playing sports outside in the sun ick.

I just looked and the current estimate is 21.1 million! I'm glad I'm incorrect haha. We need to keep Australia a secret.
That might be hard to do seeing as it's the third best country in the world (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Development_Index#Top_thirty_countries_.28HD I_range_from_0.965_down_to_0.885.29).

That comment is laughable. First, how is a release on another console going to hurt MS one bit? Exactly, it isn't. It will have zero effect on MS sales.
Second, if you think MGS4 is going to sell close to H3 you are on crack. While MGS4 will be hugely popular, it will be lucky to sell what H3 sold in one week.
Third, let's see if there are rabid fanboys camping out overnight to get MGS4.
