High scool student won't be disciplined for Halo 3 sickie

A high school student who was caught on TV buying the first copy of Halo 3 at a Bellevue Best Buy store after pulling a sickie will not be disciplined. Ritesh took a sickie (complete with sick note from his parents) to wait 10 hours in line outside Best Buy to be the first to get the copy. However Ritesh was caught out by the cameras when Bill Gates was shown shaking hands with Ritesh and even signed his copy. There had been calls by parents for him to be disciplined however school officials said they would not. Ritesh said meeting Bill gates was "the greatest moment of his life."

i got my copy the Saturday before that, so did everyone else but i would never wait inline for any game.Still no one should make fun of the kids happiness.Bill gates might not be the most ideal person to meet but being money hungry is part of owning a business.Dont envy or talk **** about the kid,grow up or are you so miserable that you cant even think of one good thing to say?Ya dont have to comment every post, and ya dont have to be such jerks<_<

Most of the posts I read here on this board are more representative of one not having a life than a guy waiting to see Bill Gates. I wouldn't wait either, but at the end of the day he can say he did something; other than fanboy-ing out on a ps3 or xbox360.

He should be disciplined, but just a couple detentions or something. Nothing severe. You don't want to encourage this sort of thing, but you don't want to burst the kid's bubble either. Maybe make him do community service or something.

Ok I can deal with not going to school to go stand in a line at the end of which your not getting anything for free or necessary, I can deal with knowing that if you let yourself be caught by cameras someone might see you and rat you out (has this kid ever seen Ferry Bueller's Day Off?), but common guys, saying that meeting Bill Gates is the greatest moment in your life is pathetic to say the least. Anyway I look at it, it's simply depressing to say such a thing.
