Bizarre Creations can safely kiss Xbox 360 exclusivity goodbye, now multiplatform

Bizarre Creations has posted up some more information on their acquisition by Activision. They state that they will continue to work as normal with no redundancies and that they have total control over their content and what they do. However, they state that they are no longer tied to just one platform and future titles can be on ANY platform essentially making them a multiplatform studio.


Let's talk games then... that's why we're all here after all. Well, we're no longer tied to just one platform for starters. Our future titles can be on whatever we please - we are a truly multiplatform studio now. Of course that doesn't mean that we'll be forced to make a port of every game to every console in existence... we simply have that option available to us.

Both of our two main game teams are about to start work on two new AAA titles for Activision. One will be a racing game, and the other a character game. Of course we'll make some more detailed announcements in the future, but be prepared for something big and exciting!

What about the now? Firstly, Geometry Wars will remain unaffected; we'll continue to expand and advance the series just as we were going to do before. The Club will still be released with SEGA, Geometry Wars Galaxies will still be released with Sierra, and PGR4 will continue to be supported after its launch in October. No massive changes here then...

Not quite so sure on how this would work, but couldn't they just rebrand it and market it as "from the makers of PGR"? or would they have the rights to everything?

I think it would be great to have PGR on all platfoirms as its good we consumers have the choice, PGR3 for me was great especially with the 360 Racing Wheel.

First point while obviosly ps3 owners would love project gotham 4, MS are publishers and so that isn't happening. In reference to the GT5 will wipe the floor with it, that is also not happening.

First of all what you are probably referring to is graphically. GT5 and PGR4 employ different art styles, gt5 is going for a real track sort of feel where pgr4 is going for through the city arcade type. So in terms of graphics pgr4 will whipe the floor in the environments but gt5 cars will probably be more high poly due to the lack of detail in the environments. But in terms of wow factor I honestly believe with all of its rain and environment and great relfections that pgr4 will be the more graphically entertaining. Forza 2 looks quite good in the cars but there really wasn't much going on in the environments and so it grew tiresome.

Which brings me on to my second point. Gameplay, IMO PGR4 is 127 times better than GT5 and Forza 2. Racing sims I discovered now bore me to death. I had fond memories of gt2 but after trying it on psp I grew rather bored. It's so slow and I need to break alot lol. Where pgr3 was amazing, super fast, I could power slide around corners and online was a sheer blast. I don't think forza 2 and GT5 can match the fun factor of an arcade racer.

And now back on topic, while pgr4 is exlusive to 360 there is obviosly a chance that pgr5 will not be.

I agree, somewhat. Definately there will be no PGR4 for the PS3, PGR5 maybe but i can't see 4 happening, for obvious reasons.

I also don't think you can compare PGR with GT as they are different types of Racers, GT is simulation and Project Gotham isn't, as much. Forza is GT's competitor and it was a good game, but playing it it wasn't as good as the memories of GT1-4 especially GT3, the fun factor was different, PGR you was just playing to have a laugh and race in style, whereas the Sim type games are more competitive and you do lose a bit of that fun, but the tuning and testing stuff brings it back for me.

I just hope GT5 lives up to the hype as the Free Demo was quite bad in my opinion.

Well it would certainly be cool if they do release the next PGR on the ps3, or/and the wii, but in all honesty I would rather the launches be a few months apart; they can release it on whatever system first, then follow up with the rest. Anyways as shin555 said PGR is not in the same category as GT. To me PGR is more in the league of Midnight Club. Anyways, I love cars, I love tuning, I love tinkering, so you can guess that I'm totally enamored with the GT series. People need to shut-off that driving assistance crap, and pick manual transmissions to really enjoy these games.

I also agree with you. In many ways it seems that the PS3 was STILL released far too early. The seemingly unending list of games that have been delayed on it are not doing Sony any favours. The days when one console had exclusivity over another are fast coming to an end. I look forward to a day when exclusives are a thing of the past. A day, i suspect, developers will look forward to as well.

Yeah would seem like if bizzare relased a racing game it cannot be called project gotham 5. And technically MS could get in new developers and make pgr5. So 360 could get 2 great racers.

edit: But I have feeling bizzare would want to do pgr5. So MS will probably choose them as developers and pgr5 will be a 360 exclusive again. Seems likely.

Also tbh if you think of it from activisions point of view, they have 2 choices lose the gotham name or release it for 360 only. With 12 million units already out there and more with halo 3 it may be a better decision to release it on 360 exclusively as the name itself will help sell the game. A new game with a different name may not sell as well even if its on both consoles.

edit2: Also every game MS publish they take the name rights for the sequels it would seem. So if MS publish a game its sequels will remain MS only.

But they can rebrand it right? I mean you move jobs but you never forget whats been inputted in your head or on notes etc. So if they were to make a Racing game it will still be good because of who they are.

It was almost inevitable that Microsoft would hold the Naming Rights, i'm just wondering if they hold the rights to whats in the game...the code etc.

I am not fussed on its exclusivity as i own all the consoles, but i thought it would be nice for everyone to have the chance to play this game as i really do rate it, and just hope that it continues.
