Woolworths: Halo 3 will beat the biggest sales of any CD/DVD/Book previously

Some of the UK's biggest retailers are reporting that Halo 3 has simply been flying off the shelves this morning, with Woolworths selling thousands and thousands of copies within two hours breaking all previous morning game sales records. Woolworths believe if that sales continue as they are then Halo 3 could produce the biggest first days sales number for ANY entertainment product beating any CD, DVD or book that has been released before.


Halo 3 has been flying off the shelves this morning," said Gerry Berkley, trading manager for games at Woolworths.

"In the first two hours that our stores were open it sold thousands and thousands of copies, breaking all previous first morning sales records for a computer game.

"If sales continue at this rapid pace, it could end up being the biggest ever first day sales number for an entertainment product, beating any CD, DVD or book that has gone before it," he revealed.

i reckon, if halo had been released as a game on a flash-in-the-pan-console (one that did not have a next generation) then i think it would have been overlooked and not as appreciated as it really is. I brought the xbox just for halo, but was disappointed with halo 2; maybe if halo 3 is as good/better than halo 1, it will inspire me to get an xbox 360:D;)
