I want to play ps2 backups, but i'm totally new to ps2 stuff, so whats the best thing to get? The price is not an issue, but I don't want to solder anything or open my ps2.
i know theres swap magic. Is that good? And what about vast?
btw, i have a fat ps2.

I suggest you HDLoader (free) with the independance exploit. You will also need a network adapter : http://hddfaq.ps3news.com/howto5.jpg
and a HDD. try to avoid Western digital.. they don't fit correctly with the adaptor. see here : http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/?p=list
installing the exploit in the ps2 Memory card can be a bit tricky. Personally, I used the Armax + Evo solution. : http://exploitstation.com/articles/armax_exploit_usb/ARMaxExploitUSB.html
They easiest way would be to install the expoit's boot files in the MC using a pre-moded ps2 and then, to shoot the stuff from MC 1 to MC 2.
You should go to PSX-scene and PS2Hd for more details. It may look complicated but it is not.

What i made, was:
-buy network adaptor
-buy HDD(western digital works fine btw, its very easy to fit it)
-buy swap magic (or any other)
-burn a CD: Exploit installer (http://sksapps.com/index.php?page=exploitmaker.html)
-boot the CD with swap magic
-put PSX game in
-done
And no need to remove PSX game ever, except while installing games from discs :)
I'm using this solution. Best thing to get without soldering.
And forget Vast, it's bogus most likely.

Here's a tutorial in order to fit a WD for your Network adapter.

It is not impossible but, that a waste of time.

sounds good, but where can i get a ps2 network adapter? Do they still make them? I would like to get a new one, but all I can find are used ones :(
Does this allow you to play online games safely too?
