Video: Why Halo 3 Collector's Edition discs are scratched on arrival

A few days back we reported that the poor quality Halo 3 LE casing is causing the discs to turn up scratched heavily upon arrival, since then we've had a number of further confirmations and the following video highlights and narrates the problematic area.

Hahahaha!! Bad rep even in the casing... Ive had a couple DVD movies that this exact thing happens. The disc gets off the holding tray and gets scratched... :mad:

But what the heck, I hope I find a severed human head inside my Legendary Edition of halo 3....perhaps that will do more interesting news than this :rolleyes:

M$ ought to get their cases from the Local Car Boot they do all sorts of cases, single, doubles, right up to six disc cases and higher... :p

if you stop the video approx. 28-30 secs, you will see at the top of the dvd9 it looks like its scratched badly.

Did he even test the disc?
If so, did he try to repair it (disc cleaner/scratch fixer)?
If the answer is no to either of these, then I don't understand why he would return it or even whine about it for that matter. DVDs can survive minor scratching (shoddy packaging or not). Just scan it on the computer and then find out if there's a problem.

I get the feeling this guy is just whining that the boxed scratched the disc before his 360 did.

Anyone who is willing to pay more for the garbage they include in these "collectors" editions (which will most certainly retain no collectors value) deserves to be screwed over.

Just saves you the hassle of having to wait until its in the Xbox before it gets scratched..... :D PS3 rocks!!!

In store, you just shake the f*'ing case and if you hear a disk rattling around don't buy that one! This has always been an issue with normal DVDs, so I always do a shake test before buying something when in the store. Probably not as bad with normal DVDs, but it's not that hard it figure out a disk is loose in the case.
