Xbox Live makes its debut in India

Xbox Live has reportedly made its debut in India in a strategy which Microsoft hopes will enable them to gain a larger slice of the $100 million gaming pie in India. A Microsoft India exec has commented that one of the Unique Selling Points (USP's) of the Xbox 360 was Live and they are commited to making available the full range of services in the region.


It’s the war of the gaming titans and Microsoft is trying to revive the interest in its XBox with the launch of the XBox Live, where gamers will be able to pit themselves against each other online. A strategy that the company hopes will help it get a larger share of the $100 million gaming market in India.

"Very clearly when we launched XBox 360, one USP of XBox 360 was the live version. We were very committed that when we launched in India we would launch with the full host of services," said Mohit Anand, Country Manager - Entertainment and Devices Division, Microsoft India.

Hopefully they'll be grouped in the asia pacific region, not with the UK. I get enough indian call centres ringing me up without xbox live as well.

Don't blame the people at call centres, blame the fat cats that take there business there, not the people.

30 360 gamers are you taking the piss, ok it might not be like everywhere else, but don't forget India is among the richest economies in the world, and not everyone there is in poverty like you may think.

I think its good that the service is available to them, its good that they have the choice...

thats not true, psn i think to this day still doesnt have an address for india. if your connecting from india then you probably just set your name to reflect a different country

PSN Is rumored to launch in India and Pakistan in late October and the only middle eastern countries that are on PSN are UAE, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, in fact Live is available in 38 countries right now compared with 29 for PSN. Nice try though...

it wasn't a fake try or something ape man it is 100% true and confirmed,if you have anyone there ring them up and confirm it. plus whacka wookie is right,the countries are not officially listed but you can chose a listed country and THE GAME IS ON.

on the other hand live is not available at all,when you try to connect to live it fails,we can check the setting and everything comes out fine except for xbox live(which has the logo also).which obviously means live is not available!
