hi all, first time caller, very avid watcher anyway im going for it tonight.. ive looked at other posts and forums and come to the conclusion somebody has to jump in and replace the two resistors on the d2c board that are missing when you compare it to the d2b board.its only a wii after all is said and done and hopefully i will be putting something back into the scene..... ill keep you posted i will be using a wiiifree socket chip on a 3.0 u update cheers geordie... your input to this thread is more than welcome

well not a lot to report... it hasnt exploded anyway which is my usual effort lol
wiifrre 2.45 soldered onto usual pins ive skimmed the chip with a dremmel and all legs are still there picking up an altimeter tmrw to test the d2b resistors and hopefully more news tmrw to report does anyone have any ideas regarding these resistors i might be right off the mark here but im working on hunches really why are the resistors on the d2b board and not the d2c boards or is it a massive red herring from Nin.cheers geordie

Sorry for the unhelpful post, but I thought this was hilarious. What exactly is an altimeter going to do for you? Do you suspect that the air is too thin at your elevation for your d2c hack to work?

Hi I Dont Know If This Is Any Help To Anybody With Far Greater Knowledge Of Modding Than Me Which Isnt Hard... But Ive Put The Wii Back Together With Wiifree Socket Chip 2.45 Installed On 3.0 U Update Its Fires Up As Normal Now Im Just Praying These Resistors Are The Issue Cheers Geordie

Hi there, hate to try to put a dampener on your investigations, but all revisions (different design types of boards) vary with different components or even less. This is because the manufacturers find better, most cost effective ways of doing things (cost effective means less components = less manufacturing price).

The D2c may not be a direct result of NINtendy trying to combat modders (although its quite possible) but more just a natural evolution of the components in the drive.

Sooner or later those with greater knowlegde than us will figure it out.

be patient, and careful with your investigations.

Praying isn't going to help solve your problem. The D2C isn't moddable because of some resistors are missing or different.....lol stop embarrassing yourself.

the d2c chipset is the problem, if you remove that chip from the board and replace it with a d2b it will work fine. that means the board change dont matter.

LOL keep testing those resistors with your "altimeter"... maybe you'll get lucky. :D
