Check if the DVD cable is connected right.

did you try undoing loosening the screws to the dvd motor that spins the disc. This worked for me there are 3 screws with a torq bit.

Didn't see how three screws can prevent it from spinning, but i tried it and it didn't work.
I was wondering if i could have over heated the D2B chip with my solder since i did have a little trouble getting the solder to stick.

If the motor is too tight is won't spin.
Does the laser at least click when you put a disk in the drive?
-did you cut the dvd ribbon cable by accident (I cut min on the sharp metal just a little cut too 1/2 mm)
-the 3 cables are connected to the drive ceck both ends of the white calbe the that in taped together
-this is the original laser correct?
-ONLY if it is a replacement laser (you must remove the potection solder bridge point on the laser ribbon)

to the O.P.
did you ever find a solution to this problem? i just tried to install a wiikey, and when i was done and plugged the cable and power back in, the drive would not spin any disc. it will load and eject just fine though.
could you load and eject your discs or not?

ya, i did figure it out, the lens was smudge and dirty, cleaning it somehow made it working again. also had to do some lens calibration.

I've run into a similar problem - drive will eject but doesn't spin. It makes a click and some sounds like it is trying to spin but can't. Menu works fine, internet, but crashes after a few seconds with a disc in. Have a cyclowiz and 1st version Wii, which has worked fine for over a year, so I don't think it's an install problem. All solder looks fine, light on the chip is solid green. It's still possible something jarred loose, but looking for other solutions. Has anyone else had and solved this problem?
I will try - cleaning lens, loosening screws, uninstalling chip, as those are some solutions I've seen.

might consider trying a different chip if your going to unsolder your cyclowiz.
