WiiKey'd Wii 2.2U... Is it safe to update?

I haven't found many interesting games, and now that I finally decided to go with Mario Strikers, is it safe to update and maybe play online?

I haven't used the new WiiKey update yet and don't intend to until after the official one is released.

I am using the original Wii, released on Day 0. With a WiiKey, clone, not that it matters.

I used Metroid Prime 3's update to update my Wii (wiikey) FW2.2U. After updated, everything works fine and still have FW2.2U.

Warning: there is a copy of Mario Strikers going around the says it is ntsc but it is really pal. If you run the update from the pal version it can corrupt your menus. Make sure you are using the proper NTSC version and you wont have any troubles. (if you did use the pal and your settings menu is messed up the fix is to run the update on big brain academy)

So far no update has done anything of importance to effect our mod chip happyness.

So can I update to the latest version via internet and still use my WiiKey 1.2?

Yep, no firmware updates from the Wii have stopped any chips from working. Upgrade from the internet or a NTSC game and then you are fine to play.
