Jim Peerless from Team Discordia has let us know that his team are currently working on an OS for the PSP.

Here is what he had to say on the upcoming project, he sent us a screenshot instead of the video but it shows clearly the nature of the project.


I just want to let everyone know that we are currently creating a
new OS. It is in a VERY early beta right now. But just to show you
guys whats coming in the near future, I recorded a video of it in
action.

In the video, I show you guys the battery percent bar, the camera, the
mouse moving around, and then the mouse clicks on the Pacman icon.
Pacman loads, I then introduce the new home button menu, I press X to
quit, and it goes back to discordia OS. It is not nearly completed,
many more features will be added.

If you really want the video we can host it in here, its around 7mb and not compressed to well that's the only reason we didn't host it as the screenshot shows exactly what the Discordia OS is all about :).

In that case we will get it up later for you. :cool:

how would you suggest I compress it to make it smaller?

I used virtualdubmod and used the divx codec.

you dont have to host it..its ok.

I think this is why PSIX partly stopped the development of their 'OS' also, however if developers are creating homebrew it's best to support them not dampen their spirits because they are doing it out of their own free will and whilst it may not be useful for all, it does help their learning and the rest of ths scene's :). Who knows, maybe one day you may even find it useful!

Well I'm sure alot of it looks awfully familiar BUT as long as they dont use your cool graphics as requested then all is ok right :) ?

uh.. no i did not even look at your source code...

all i did for mouse movement was store x and y position and change them using the analog stick...

Good to hear that I´m waiting for a hombrew OS since FW 1.5 got hacked :)
and it would be cool if there would be a feature which allows to trade files with other psps directly over wireless lan

Anyone with an usb cable could stole your files if he stole your psp ! Do you lend your psp to someone that you don't know anything about ? So will you typewrite everytime you launch your os this fucking password ? Boring !!! :eek:

why did somoeone on page 1 say that this would be a waste of time?

fucking idiots, if someone makes a custom flash0 and flash1 to load from ms0:\SHELL\blah blah blah when it starts up then that would be FuCKiNG great, means that the shell could load up all the prx files needed for 2.0, EVERYTHING and guess what, we wouldnt need any reason to make a modchip, moan about how we cant play 2.0 needed games, just to name a few reasons.

i hope that guy makes real good progress on his OS
