I just installed my wiikey yesterday and burned the config disk. Although I have the lastest wii FW update (3.0) the setup disk still came up as a GC game and went to load but errored. I am guessing it was because it was a bad disk.. burned on a memorex at 4x. Ive read that 3.0 doesnt auto load the old wiikey config disk or something of that nature, so I decided to put in a back up of metriod burned on a memorex at 4x... and it worked!!
So my question is, should I try and reburn the 1.2 or 1.1(got from wiikey site) config disk again? or should i just wait for the new release(hopefully soon lol..) or neither because it still plays the games and thats all i need it to do.
thankss

You dont need the disk aculey. You can get around it by reformating your wii witch puts the firmware back to 1.0. With the 1.0 firmware you can now just set your wiikey settings. After setting your wiikey you can now update to 3.0 firmware and the settings you applied wile using 1.0 should stick.

This is not true... I have just tried it myself, and it only wipes out all files(saves and channels) and configurations. Updates are kept.

Hopefully you've looked at the forums lately. Config 1.0, 1.2 no longer boot natively on the 3.0 firmware. You would have to load a homebrew version of 1.2 if you wanted to stick with the old software. The new 1.3 version boots just fine. It was Nintendo's update 3.0 that stopped certain headers from booting such as the older 1.2 and 1.0. Hope that helps. And reseting your Wii will not revert your system to 1.0, firmware versions stick.
