I sliced the ribbon slightly to my wii laser on the sharp metal in the disc drive so it would not work. I bought a new one on ebay. The laser looks the same but the new laser has 2 POT's on it the original has 1 POT on it. The reason I care is because the new one seems to be recognized but the disc in the drive will not spin at all! The laser assembly moves back and forth when a disc is inserted and the laser trys to recongnize the disc(see the disc with the laser beam is clicks kinda) but it won't spin at all.

I was thinking maybe the laser needs to recognize the disc first before it starts to spin the disc. I do have the 1 switch pressed down/sideways that tells the system there is a disc in the drive is there another one?

Also can anyone tell me what their pot settings are on the 2 pots on the laser? The values that were set on the replacement laser when i received it are 620 Ohms and 1350 Ohms.

I have also tried bridging the two fuses seperately but I don't have the eject problem and it did not work.

I am not sure whats wrong any imput or ideas would be great.

Got my Wii WORKING!!!

Turns out that all NEW wii lasers have a point/dot of solder on the ribbon cable. This dot of solder is a protection point it joins 2 contact points together and must be desoldered before the laser will work and move on to spinning the disc. The purpose of this point is to prevent static from frying/ruining the laser during shipment.

Thank god I just new I didn't screw the motor

You're a complete moron..."must be desoldered before the laser will work"...haha. So what, you "desoldered" the ribbon cable? Please tell us how you managed to do that.....:D:confused:

The solder on the ribbon cable is supposed to be there. LEAVE IT ALONE. Idiots like you that give erroneous advice on message boards cause nothing but trouble.

Hey guess what you are the MORON because there is a little drop of solder on the laser ribbon that is connected to the laser when it is NEW. IT MUST be removed before the laser will work. GET IT probably not go cry now because you're the moron!

why would anyone remove the solder unless they new they had to. It did not come with anypaper or instructions telling you to remove the drop that is why I posted to help others.

I can't verify the information either way, but you, sir, are the one coming off as a douchebag. I believe cloudd is being as honest as he can be, and whether he's correct or slightly correct, you're acting like a kid trying to be a smartass. So how about YOU stop it and quit making a fool out of yourself.

every guy that repair consoles knows that laser replacement have a solder bridge (ps2,xbox,360 and wii) for static protection, you need to remove the solder bridge for laser to work, normally this solder bridge is in one ribbon cable in the laser, cloudd have reason and all other are being dumbass for calling others dumbass, when you donīt know what here is talking about itīs better close your mouth then saying crap, that only prove that you donīt know nothing about console hardware.

cloudd, here did you bought your laser, i passed many days searching for one but canīt find it.

dear lord, people can be really stupid... if you dont know, just shut up...

Every one who do services like, changing laser from consoles (ps2,psx,x360 etc etc) knows that....

http://www.modsupplier.com/catalog/xbox-360-hitachi-sfhd63-laser-brand-new-p-197.html

Please note that these Xbox 360 lasers have an anti-static solder point that will need to be removed with a soldering iron before use

Yeah, we can cleary see who is the dumbass... the solder points on the retail console are there, they are just NOT bridged...
