I am tryign to put in a switch to turn off the memory card, internal. Looking at a diagram it says pin four is VDD with this orientation. With the switch open my wii sstill recognizes the card. Is pin four the right one. Maybe i could put a switch on ground. does anyone know which pin is ideal.

I tried making an SD adapter and still have the memory card intact by putting a switch on pin 4 and when I had the switch turned off so that it bypassed the memory card and enabled the SD card, the Wii was still reading the memory card. So I'm not sure which pin to put the switch on. I already cut my memory card since I didn't want to mess with it but you could try putting the switch on ground and see if that works. Next memory card I get I'm gonna try it again.

The mod i am am trying to do is going to be pretty cool. I have a Momentary push always closed switch in the memory card slot. I have it so that when a memory card is inserted its opens the switch. This way if I want to say transfer files from two memory cards external i wouldn't have to play a game of leap frog with the internal one. The switch does work and will open the circuit when a external card is present however pin 4(which as for as i know is Vdd) does not affect the Wii reading the memory card. SO am I right in putting the switch on pin 4 VDD. Maybe another pin is VDD. Next one i try will be Ground but i do not know which pin that is. I could find it with a multimeter but trying to Find Vdd i would not know how to find. Would i just connect my Wii to a power source. Connect black anode to the ground( copper around the screw holes) and the other to each pin? would that work. Sorry i am not as strong in IC's as i would like to be. does anyone have any advice.

Pin 4 and Pin 8 are VDD.

Also, pins 1 and 12 are connected together to "sense" the card.

I am not sure if all of this is needed, but I did something similar with a micro leaf switch. I used a 3PST momentary switch, connected both the VDD's and the sense line to it. When I put a card in, it trips the switch and disconnectes both VDD's and the sense line. At that point my WII (and GC for that matter) stop "seeing" the card.

A good pinout description is Here (http://pinouts.ru/Game/gamecube_mem_pinout.shtml).

What about the VCC. Would i not have to worry about that. Now im worried because a 3p1t whill be a lil bigger. I could put the Vdd togeather. But that sense line i dont know. I think i will tryi it on ground. That should work to effectively disable the mem card right.

does anyone know if putting my spst switch on ground will work to disable?
