I have PSP JAP 1.00.
Currently I can only run Wipeout_Pure_No_UMD using Hookboot 0.92B.
I guess other games require firmware 1.50.
Is it better wait till hookboot can run all 1.50 games on 1.00, or upgrade to 1.50?
Thanks in advance. :)
PS. Want to try FastLoader 0.5 but it require 1.50 and a UMD, which is both I don't have :(

There are only a handful of games that require 1.5, and just about all of them are crap. I've got a 1.0 and I'm not upgrading it for any game. No game is worth the kxploit business in my opinion, no matter how easy you 1.5 people say it is.
What I'm scared of is that developers will completely stop supporting 1.0 firmware because so many 1.0 owners are upgrading their PSPs :(
Let's not make the 1.0 machines out there fewer than they already are.

1.5 is much better than 1.0 imho
It's not about which fw version is better or not. It's about personal preferrence. I'm not upgrading either because eventually things will run on both fws like Fastloader, it's just a matter of time...
I'd say do the update.
The software installation is not much harder on 1.5 and there's lots of tools available.
IMHO it would be a good thing if - at any given time - only binaries for the latest firmware running homebrew would be released.
Why? It would ensure the best compatiblity if everyone used the same firmware version, especially since new games may requirer newer firmware. At some point even game developers will asume at least FW 1.50 (or 2.0 due to the WLAN WPA additions).
The 1.0 owners can still convert those binaries without a problem. Maybe the best solution would be a packaging system that extracts to 1.0 or 1.5 depending on the PSP you're installing to. PSPins might be on the right track.
Also don't forget that most devs only have one PSP. They can therefore only test on one FW version and that should be the latest avaiable with the biggest install base. This will inevitably lead to less 1.0 binaries or at least in less binaries tested on 1.0.
Anyways, it's just a matter of time until we get some sort of virtualization layer for running binaries. Something like a universal homebrew lauchner that, once installed on 1.0, 1.50, or 2.00 trough whatever exploit available on that firmware, allows running all homebrew apps from a unified directory layout.

For what its worth Ive updated yesterday from 1.0 to 1.5 and personaly i am happy even with corrupt icons and %'s everywhere :¬)
Ease of use, homebrew/game compatibility and iso loading all blow 1.0 ownership out of the water IMO

Why wouldn't anyone upgrade to 1.5? It makes no sense not to.
