Sony: MS are just repeating themselves with the Xbox 360 this year

Speaking in a recent interview, Sony's David Reeves talked up the upcoming games that are coming to the PS3 as well as throwing out figures such as the PS3 is outselling the Xbox 360 in Europe by a ratio of 3:1. While praising the job MS has done in the market, Reeves also remarked that last year MS were boasting they had a great line up and just getting ready to take off, but they are repeating this all over again. He states that Sony has a different approach, instead of hyping things up, they don't say anything and 'deal in numbers.'


“This is not the US. [Europe’s] quite different from the US in terms of market shares.” said Reeves. “…PS3 outsells Xbox 360 about 3 to 1. PS2 outsells Xbox 360 by 4 to 1 [SCEE said the PS3:360 ratios are from "at least the last four months." - ed.]…. In Japan, Xbox 360 does nothing….They have a good lineup and I think they’ve done a fantastic job coming into the market. But they said last year, ‘we’ve got the greatest lineup and this is the year we’re taking off.’ They’re just repeating it.

Ummm sony why is the ps2 so much better than the ps3? Stop worrying about Microsoft (they actually have good games that are worth buying, not last years ports.) and figure out what system is the future for sony because right now the 7 year old ps2 has better games and more games released then the ps3 that is lucky to even release 1 game on time that doesn't get rated bad or delayed if not flat out canceled.

You gotta wonder why sony is worried about Microsoft when the wii is killing the ps3 and stealing 3rd party developers. As far as games sony has to be crazy trying to debate who has better games. E3 showed Microsoft is gonna deliver this year with games we can play, while sony left people wondering if it was time to prey.

I guess Sony's success with the PS1 & PS2 doesn't matter to some people who always try to put down something they absolutely have no idea what they are talking about.

PS1 - 102+ million

PS2 - 115+ million (and still selling)

PSP - 23+ million (this alone beats the 360)

PS3 - 4.5+ million


Xbox - 24.5+ million (came in after the PS2 and left before the PS2 ended...real great for the customers huh?)

360 - 10.5+ million


If I was a betting man I would bank on Sony & Nintendo having sustainable, solid growth in terms of long term sales and offering support for their customers. Unlike MS with their short term console support. I don't understand how people actually believe MS "has" the market...

ps3 8 months after launch 100 price cut
ps3 5 free movies
ps3 1 or 2 free games

at this rate the ps2 will outlive the ps3. yes the ps1 and ps2 was great, but the ps3 pretty much sucks. Until they get some games worth buying the ps2 is whooping the ps3 ass. For a minute there I thought you were actually going to try and slam sony for the lifespan their consoles have had, which was going to be pretty funny. The 2 earlier versions were discontinued? so? can you do things differently with those that you can't do with the ones available? They can't take a "if it's not broke don't try to fix it" attitude, they need to find ways to save money and make production as easy as it can be, or else how do you expect them to be able to lower prices, and make money themselves?

I seem to remember earlier on in this current gen when people said sony wouldn't be dropping the price in 2 or 4 years, that they're money hungry corporation (which they are) this and that. i should've stated this earlier since i do own a Dreamcast and you're right it's the finest consoles that i have ever played on. If anything that's what M$ wanted to be from the start but they failed to carry on the DC legacy so poorly. SegaNet is what made LIVE.

Like most things, if you ignore dumpmob he will go away. Give him attention and you will continue to get his retarded view on life and games.

Price drops are great for consumers, but for a company to be so quick to cut price it means they are not selling the system. If they were getting the same amount of sales at the $600 price they would never have lowered it in the first place.

Also the 5 free BD movies is just another incentive, it costs them next to nothing to give them away since the movies aren't really selling and it gives people another reason to consider the purchase. Just like HD DVD doing the same. Only difference is that Sony has more of a vested interest in BD since they spent so much money buying catalogs of movies from other companies and they are also using it in the PS3 as one of its major draws.

I would prefer a free game or two over 5 movies but thats not my decision to make.

As for the constant back and forth between companies, blame the internet for giving these people a forum that so easily excessable. If we had to wait for it to hit something in print you wouldn't hear 90% of this garbage from either side. Just shut the **** up and put out some games.

Seeing as SegaNet was almost completely funded by Microsoft (or at least it ran off of Microsoft's servers at one point) during the DC days, Xbox Live is an expansion of Microsoft's own product. Yet when the PSN is a blatant rip off of Xbox Live to a T, there's no shame in that! :D:rolleyes:
