Microsoft: With the Elite & Price drop we are in a stronger position than competitors

Microsoft's UK marketing manager has commented that the 'delta in terms of value for money' betwen the PS3 and Xbox 360 becomes even wider due to the official price cuts and the launch of the Elite SKU. Therefore they feel that they are in a stronger position than their competitors in the run up to the all important Christmas period. However, with Nintendo gainging huge ground and the PS3 also expected to do the same, will things be as straight forward as MS imply within the UK market?


Cornelius concluded: "With the launch of Elite and the price drop, the delta in terms of value for money between 360 and PS3 gets broader. We feel we’re in a stronger position than our competitors in the run up to Christmas."

If only Microsoft had the Hardware to back that up. They got the games right NOW. But that could change at any moment.

It's Future is in question with Microsofts Complete lack of foresight. (Core, DVD9, HDMI, WIFI) Its only got the games because of the sales, Its only got the sales because its Cheap. Theres no avoiding that the PS3 will eventually hit $200. When that happens how does the 360 plan to compete when developers are comfertable with parallel processing on the Cell SPU's and being spoiled with capacity (super-capacity with inevitable compression), and a Free marketplace that has everything Live offers.

I'll Guarentee you the Xbox 720 is going to have a Bulky processor (ie CELL) a Next-Gen medium (Blu-ray, or an even further successor) and a Standard HDD. The 720 will no doubt cost $600+ Microsoft will want to copy off Sony as much as possible and release LONG LASTING consoles, for maximum profit. Microsoft wants money and sofar releasing 4 year lifespan consoles has lost Microsoft $9+ Billion. Microsoft will also learn that Bribeing Developers was a costly mistake and counter productive. Microsoft must remember that Game companies NEED YOU. Without a console, these game companies make no money. your console should do the talking, NOT your wallet. Sony already knew all this. The long run will show it clear as day this generation.

I will say one thing about the ps3s spec, im sick of hearing about cell, its the ps3s bottleneck not its saviour.

The next xbox will more likely use flash memory for cache and a hard disk for storage. And probably a more standard cpu made by intel or AMD. For instance a mid range core duo would wipe the floor with cell and the triple core powerpc cpu in the 360.

And microsoft dont copy sony, sony copies everyone else. Its even got the 360s guide button. Its got the sixaxis which is just horrible, they didnt know what to do without rumble so tried a bit of a wii route and my god is it bad. Now with home they are trying a sort of half mii half xbox live thing. They tried thier own download and buy service which is a chore to use. I could go on for hours.

The fact is the elite was available yersterday and I know 3 people that bought one. I know 10 that bought bioshock and I know lots of people holding out til halo. The fact that VF5 has proven to look worse on 360 than the PS3, DiRT droppping FPS to the single digits during gameplay on the 360, Oblivion suffering from low-res visuals, stutters/hiccups and load times on the 360, The Darkness having a horrible image display throughout the WHOLE GAME IN ITS ENTIRETY, it just goes to show how much "potential" your 360 has. Why do you think BiOshock sufffers from major hiccups on the 360 and crashes after a couple of hrs in gameplay???? hmmm RROD perhaps:o

R6 Vegas is looking and running the same as 360 for a port to PS3

hmmm from what ign,gamespot and everyone else said. Both versions seemed close apart from the ps3s bad AA and I qoute "sporadic slowdown" stop talking from your A hole.

If you backed up what you said once and a while people would listen to you.

And there are a few reasons a ps3 switch is off the cards, one my work mates are on live and I love being able to play with them. Its a great community to play in. 2 its just not worth all that money. And 3 the games are crap, Metal gear solid 4 is all I want and I refuse to pay £425 for metal gear solid.
