component video out on a DOL-101 GC

I recently bought my first GC... After playing for a few days I decide to look for component cables. I have a home theater room I'm currently remodeling and I want to run the GC down there in progressive scan.

After some looking around it would seem that at some point in 2004 Nintendo decided to stop making consoles with the "digital AV port" that allows for component cable output.

I'm no stranger to modding; I've modded many a console before (I'll probably be chipping the GC sooner or later). I was wondering if it's at all possible to wire up my own component outputs? Meaning, sure Nintendo got rid of the port but did they at least leave the connections internally so that I might soldering in my own component hookups?

Any info or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. :cool:

I don't know if it's possible, or if there are any guides available. Besides, Nintendo will let you send in your DOL-101, and they will exchange it for a DOL-001 with componet outputs for free.

If you live in the US or Japan (and haven't modded your GameCube yet) then you can call Nintendo and ask them for a replacement cube with the "digital" out port. They're refurbished though.

Don't know about wiring up your own component output but I doubt it's possible. Never been done at least.

I saw that the Nintendo website had a number you could call, I didn't realize they'd send you an older version for free.

I was curious if I could wire my own ports because I figured straight component outs on the back would not only be higher quality (because I could use my own, high end cables) but cheaper because I wouldn't need to buy Nintendo's adapter.

I'll just get my console replaced, there will probably be far less headaches that way.
