Boy nearly kills himself by trying to cool an Xbox 360

A 14 year old boy reportedly nearly killed himself as he tried to prevent his Xbox 360 from over-heating. The teenager read on the the internet that it was possible to stop his Xbox 360 from turning off every five minutes by cooling the power supply. Later on, the boy's mother found him unconscious after he took the power supply and wrappted it in tape submerged in a pan of water with the cord still PLUGGED IN. Fortunately the boy regained consciousness by the time the meds arrived.


A 14 year old boy from Brevard, North Carolina was nearly killed Sunday while trying to stop his Xbox 360 from overheating.

The boy’s mother told local news that his Xbox 360 kept turning itself off after about 5 minutes. Her son had read online that he could stop it from cutting off by cooling the power supply. “I saw him put the cord on top of a box in the living room”, said the boy’s mother. “When I left to go next door he was playing a game but when I got back he was laying on his back on the floor and unconscious”.

While his mother was away the boy had taken the power supply and wrapped it in plastic and tape. In an attempt to cool it off, he submerged it into a pan of water with the cord still plugged in. The boy had regained consciousness by the time paramedics had arrived. He was taken to the Transylvania Community Hospital in Brevard where he spent the night.

hes only alive thanks to it being a U.S console. had it been a pal region the voltage would have probably cooked him well done lol. im sure he doesnt feel like a "leet" 14 year old now....

i get asked everyday why he isnt banned and I always let it slide because everybody deserves a fair chance but enough is enough. Vote on me i dont give a crap but because i favor the 360 over the ps3 doesnt mean i hate it. I wont ever start a conversation saying Screw the ps3 or Sony will fail or Screw all the Fony fanboys. Choice is one thing but ignorance is another and if you like the ps3 then im happy for you. Im sorry but no kid of 14 should be that stupid. Thinking back to what I was doing at 14 which is a good erm 7 years ago, I was possibly chipping my own ps2, I had swapped out the power supply on it which failed and pretty soon after I was replacing the lasers on it.

Because I dont have an IQ of 4 I decided to do this away from water and made sure to earth myself and all that.

I dont get how a kid could be so uneducated at his age.

Ah well he survived anyway hes lucky.

what i dont get is if the system was overheating why would he submerge the power supply in water? if anything he really was stupd he would have put the xbox console in the refrigerator or under the a/c. but the power supply? its not like that would magically cool the rest of the machine.

actually it was meant to be taken as if the kid doesnt realise not to throw electrical devices in water then he is probably slow and if you have any relations to somebody that has a brother or son with something like down syndrome then you know you never leave them alone

So with that said, if majority of this forum decided they wanted you banned, or anyone else for that matter, would it happen too? If not, then you have no grounds in which to ban jerzmob. If you are to ban him for what he does, you MUST ban DaFireStarter, and whoever it was that brought an unnecessary post about the PS3's weight and the inability to pick it up due to that.

Be a little more fair pal, don't single out specific people. If your gonna ban one, you better be ready to ban them all.

Plus, you spam just as much. The fact that you are a mod and you spam makes you worse than jerzmob as your the one who is supposed to set an example for the users here, he isn't.

Seriously though, I'm glad he's safe...... however, I'm worried about this kid getting a drivers permit in a few years. What I dont get is why I don't see Wookie attacking Banfro.. That guy Posts "PS3 SUCKSSSSSSS", "CRAPPY PS3" in every thread he touches... He also personally attacks members!

I havent been here long, but I dont ever see wookie attack a rabid 360 fanboy, yet he makes a debacal out of PS3 fanboys.
