Indian Bioshock delay causes virtual riots

According to Sameer Desai from '360Indians' tensions have been flaring between Indian gamers and members of Microsoft's community staff due to the delayed launch of Bioshock in the region. The country manager had announced in the past that Bioshock would be released in India in-line with the US/European release, however news later came that the title would not be released until early October. This then reported in virtual personal attacks, flaming, all that other nasty internet forum stuff and ultimately banned accounts.


Things have been heating up lately both here at 360Indians and the Xbox.com India forums; tensions flaring, Xbox forum accounts being banned, personal attacks back and forth between Micosoft India execs and console owners. And its all for one game – Bioshock.

It all started with news that Bioshock would not release in India before late September or early October. This came as a rude shock to everyone and understandably so since this game has got the most impressive reviews in recent memory. More importantly, Mohit Anand (Country Manager, Microsoft Entertainment & Devices Division, Microsoft India) said himself in a post on Xbox.com that Bioshock would release here inline with worldwide release dates (August 21 for the US and August 24 for Europe).

This is payback for having to deal with them every time I call customer service ;). Seriously though, I don't see what the big deal is with this game. There's no multiplayer which should take away from review scores. I've been playing it and it has failed to draw me in. It's no Half Life 2. It's cool and everything but it's just not living up to my expectations. I'll keep playing to see if my opinion changes any.

i have two friends in india, who have american xboxes and theyre playing the game. which has been released on malaysian dvds. so i dont know what this is all about. but if theres one people i steer clear from as much as possible. its indians.
