View Full Version : Hacked Crystal Chip firmware bypasses DNAS
In rather unfortunate news it seems there is a new hacked third-party firmware flash for the Crystal Chip that bypasses the DNAS and allows back ups to be played online (legitimate or otherwise). The hacked firmware flsah bypasses the DNAS protection completely.
You can discuss this news here, do not post any LINKS to this.

I believe this is a good thing as people who lose thier originals will no longer have to go through the very troublesome process of patching their legally owned backups to play online or having to shell out another overpriced amount for a new game.
Of course there are two sides to any issue, but I think Sony locking out legal backups is wrong as is playing illegal copies wrong.

Well I think this will annoy Sony very much, the online sony ps2 gaming experience is not a patch on Xbox Live but I'm sure they will feel this is a direct attack to them. Yes of course, it is nice to play your legitimate backups online too - Many of my old original discs are scratched and my laser is slowly dying so the ps2 has trouble reading them. I only use Xlink Kai tho really on Xbox :D

Has anyone claimed responsibility? I.E. is this a group release or independent hack?
