You can't, simple as that. And you never will be able to.
If you could, I can assure you that news would not have slipped you by.

ok, well i'm new to the psp so, it could have
slipped by me. but I did hear that sony was
considering making a TV tuner for the PSP
so your comment about it never being possible
may be overstated, if SONY out of some
consideration made the tuner capable of
taking a video feed.

Yes that is a possibility but I was only answering your question which was specifically about you wanting to connect video sources to your PSP, not watch TV in particular but have general video inputs into the unit itself which I'm 99% sure will never happen. If Sony ever made a TV tuner for the PSP I doubt it would include video inputs in the unit.

Besides, if they did they would be composite inputs, and personally I'd never want to play anything blurred and washed out through crappy composite inputs on a small screen to boot. I'm all for progressive scan and component inputs or better.

After reading this thread I remembered that I´ve seen a pic of a tv tuner for clies. This was shown on the cebit in 2003. But could of course come out for the psp too maybe with some modifications.

This very TV tuner does exist in Japan but:

- It's freaky expensive
- It only works on Sony Clié Devices
- It's designed to works with Japanese TV standard only
(it means it can't work outside japan, or another country using the same TV standard (as south Korea or Taiwan))
(To be more precise it only works with Japanese HDTV standard)

So unless you can hack the PsP firmware to work with this device, and live in Japan, South Korea, or Taiwan, buying such a device would be useless unless Sony makes one for NTSC analogic TV, or Pal/Secam Analogic TV, or even USA HDTV systems or European DVB systems (for digital aired TV in europe).

I think its possible but only if sony or a third party releases a umd to go with it and it interfaced with the usb. As it stands now, it is not possible, however I believe it is possible.

The USB port is just to offer mass storage device support when connected to a PC, it doesn't support hosting devices.
It doesn't suplly the needed power.

if you look closer to your PSP usb port you will notice 2 gold plates, that are able to supply power, so its total bullsh*t you told us here

No, it just does that in the stock firmware, I don't see any reason why you couldn't code it to do whatever you wanted it to.

I just hope one will come (wich i'm sure it will) so I can play my xbox 360 on it! Hmm while writing this it occured to me that X360 is gonna be compatible with PSP.. I sure hope those coders out there can't wait to get started on these babies together! :D

This isn't hard at all for sony, but i doubt they'll ever release it.
Since third-parties have no way to run code on the psp, a third-party solution isn't very plausible.
Now if sony wanted to release something like this, they could either bundle a "special" firmware update with it (if the tuner worked thru the memory stick slot), or a signed app that you could run from the memory stick (if the tuner was usb)
Anyway, i don't know why, but i doubt sony will ever release something like this.

I thought the Cilé development had stopped. If Sony was to release a DVB-T version of this TV card, I'm sure it would sell well even if it would be 100euro +...

Best regards!
