Peter Mackay has released a port of id software's classic title known as Quake. The port can be run on either the Gamecube or Wii, and ultimately requires something like the SD media launcher or another way of running applications from the SD card to function. You can grab the build and all the information required to get it up and running from Quake-Gamecube. It is running pretty well, on the GC this port runs at over 70 frames per second on 320x264 and just under 30 frames at 640x528.

Cool Quake 3 Models in Quake. They just need to reach Wii-Mode for WiiMote functionality : >

When we get a bit of quake 3 on the wii it'll be amazing! Imagine all the CPMA movments done with the wiimote while aiming too!

Nice to see the porting community finally taking a closer look on the cube/wii. There are so many open source engines for classic games but so little ports to these consoles.
I wish they add dvd-loading support. PAL Wii owners weren't able to use the SD card adapters from the start. so no go with this SD card only version.

Let this be the start of some great ports to the Nintendo's PowerPC architectures.

How well does this run ?

I haven't got an SD card but I'm probably gonna pick up a cheap one whilst I'm on vacation.

Does anyone know whether this will work using DVD dol loading with a GCOS disc?

hmmm after reading this topic through that seems pretty unlikely, I just haven't seen any dol file before that _only_ works through sdload.

So this is not working on a PAL Wii with Gecko SD Card Adapter?
I tried it yesterday, but got an error on a red screen.
Or does anybody got it running on a PAL Wii?

Works on my PAL Wii, but you'll need a Modchip to launch SDLOAD.

even with a modchip, you'll need gcos as well i think for sdload since 3.0?
