I received my Wiikey today and install it successfully (I think). Here's a picture of the soldering. This is my first soldering job but I think I did very well, I practiced for a couple hours a few days ago in preparation. I don't believe there are any crossed wires or soldering anywhere.

My retail NTSC Wii games work perfectly, as do my Gamecube games. Does this mean that the Wiikey is installed correctly? My problem is that the one Wii game I have burnt is PAL, so I need to run the Wiikey setup disc and disable the region lock. However, my firmware is updated to v.3.0U.

This means that I must run a bootup disc, right? This is where I am confused. I burnt two different ones, the one from kkwarez and the one from a french site, which were both linked to from these forums:

kkwarez
kkw-wiikey.1.2.on.firmware.USA http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=72223
I ran kkwarez.exe and burnt the iso kkw-bootdisc.usa.iso

Can't find the french link but it's here somewhere, it's titled Wii-GC-Emu-Mplayer-Config-BootDisk. I ran Create_iso_NTSC44.bat then burnt the open_emulation.iso

Neither of these discs are working. I am very confused about what these discs have to do with the Wiikey setup. Are you supposed to load one of these discs, then insert the old 1.2 Wiikey setup disc that others have used pre-firmware update?

Both of these discs, the kkwarez and french one, make clicking sounds when loading up in the Wii. They have both given me errors "Unable to read the disc" sometimes and also "An error has occurred, please restart." Are these possibly just bad burns. And either way, how do these have anything to do with Wiikey setup, are those files already built-in to these discs?

Please help me with these issues, thank you for any advice or feedback!

just burn any gcos disc, and then in the gcos menu put in the official wiikey setup cd and run that..

It's not WiiKey team find this

But you can have a gme cube controler to launch the 1.2 setup disc after load GCOS disc

I don't have access to any burnable GC disc.

I downloaded GCoS 1.5 and opened this folder and there are .dol. .GCB .BIOS and .VGC files.

I have no idea what to do with these, but I did find your topic, manias, with the make_multi_srcv3

So what I did was run in the cmd prompt "make-multiv3 multi.iso USA" and it created a very small 256 KB multi.iso file. Now I burn this file on a DVD and insert it into my Wii, boot it up in the CD menu. Then I get to a purple menu system, eject the disc, insert the original Wiikey setup disc, and then it will automatically run?

When I mount this multi.iso there are 3 files: boot.catalog, bootldr.dol, and mfe-fs.bz2.

Do I have all of this correct? Thank you so much for the help

yeah should probably work without a game as well I suppose.. when you get the menu eject the disc, insert wiikey setup, and "run dvd" from the menu
