Hi,
I have a PAL Wii, which I got chipped a few days ago. I want to play NTSC games on it, but cannot get any to work - i get to the start menu and then the game blacks out and the machine crashes when you try to start the game.
I asked the person who chipped it if it was the Wiinja chip he installed and he said yes, but I'm not so sure - how would I go about checking for that?
I haven't used my Wii since February, I got really bored after an initial expenditure of a couple hundred quid on the release games, I also haven't been online with it since then and never got any of the online updates anyway - I only wanted it for the gaming feature, all the other fluff I can use my PC for, I thought. Has this had any effect on why NTSC games won't work, was there any kind of region unlocker relased for this kind of situation?
I also have read about Super Papaer Mario (US vers.) frying bricking machines if the appropriate firmware is not already on your machine. I bought Mario Strikers and have read that that automatically updates your firmware... is this true? I haven't used the game online, if that makes any difference?
I'm a bit stuck because the reason I wanted my chipped was to play American releases... and they aren't working! Have I just made a big boo boo, or is there a way to sort this out?
I haven't actively gone on nintendo's update page since January, so I am not sure what firmware I currently have, how do I check for that?
Thanks.
