I'm new to this soldering lark but I have practiced and stuff, I've just pre-soldered the wiikey and wondered if one of you guru's could give me the all clear before I try to put it in the console.

Thanks

Sorry about the quality by the way, I only have the camera that's on my phone.

As far as I can tell it looks ok to me. Just make sure none of the points is making contact with another. If you have a multimeter check the continuity just to make sure.

Well unfortuantely I cant do it anyway since the guy who had the console before me must have had a go at opening it himself and some of the triwing screws are look like they've been damaged and they won't move, so it would seem as though I'm out of luck.

That sucks. Which ones are messed up? You could try applying your soldering iron on top of the screw for a short bit to loosen it up and then try to remove it. Otherwise you'll have to drill them out or crack the case. Good thing the replacement cases are available. Good luck.

It's only the 2 at the front and on the right side where they're hidden by those paper things.

I'm not cracking the case, what kind of drill bit would I need to get them out ?

If its the two black ones then try putting your irons tip on the head of the screw. Just long enough to slightly soften the plastic so the screws can be removed. That is as long as they are not completely stripped smooth.

If that doesn't work your local hardware store should carry bits that aid in removing stripped screws.

That worked beautifully, thanks a lot :)

Anytime man. I'm glad that worked out for you. Now just make sure you test it out before screwing everything back together.

Yeah I ballsed up the install unfortunately, it still plays originals but backups obviously don't work.

Oh well, you live you learn.
