Fitted the upgrade switch for my cyclowiz today and updated to 3.5 with the case top off and everything was fine and working perfect.
So i put the case top back on and did up all the screws up and then the Wii wouldnt boot, after taking the Wii apart i found one of the switch wires insulation got cut into and shorted to the metal case.
The power LED goes green and the drive will spin if i insert a disc and the 2 drive fuse`s are ok, i just dont get a picture on screen or any sound and the Wii wont turn on/off via the Wiimote.
I also checked the 2 flat green fuse`s on the mainboard and both were fine any ideas please?
All help is very welcome, this is my first post on the forum so hello everyone, thanks Big Jenks.

Ive had the mainboard out and checked all the fuse`s which appear fine, but the group of 4 FIL fuse`s near the video output socket are fine but they dont have any power going to them.
What would Ninty`s repair policy be i didnt buy the console but i can get the reciept off my friend who did, you can tell the dvd drive has had a mod chip fitted aswell, i wonder how much they would charge for repairs?

I have a Wii with no video out put, I wounder if they would have anything to do with it...

Long story: purchased a CycloWiz. I receive the chip and get it installed this evening. Tested the chip by putting power to the unit: everything is green and solid. Install the programmer switch, and we can make the light change from solid to off.
I put everything back together and get a ticking sound, red light on wii. Take it back apart, think the drive isn't getting a chance to spin up, move the programmer switch wires out of the way and everything is green. The wii is green, the chip is green.
Hook up the Wii to the TV and I get no picture and no sound. I don't get the Wii Splash screen "Press A to continue," I don't get the Wii Channels, I don't get a game, etc. but the light on the chip is still green when power is hooked up to it.
I removed the chip, but unfortunately I have the same issue.
I'm going to grasp at straws and say that maybe I messed up the "motherboard" when I reassembled the Wii. I highly doubt a static charge, but I didn't use tape over the CycloWiz chip. I had tape holding down the wires, but not over the solder points. I'm going to guess that maybe I shorted something when I gave it power.
Does it seem likely that lack of tape over the chip would cause this issue? NOA has said they'll repair the Wii no matter what caused it for $80.00. I'm contemplating very much to send it in, but I'm worried they'll send back a new D2C chipset drive (mine is a DMS), but I just want a new mobo. I'm going to try again, I've spent too much time and effort trying to get this Cyclowiz to work to just give up. I figure I'll give it one more go, put tape over it and do it all in one sitting. I just need to find a Wii I can take apart and use the mobo in. Does anyone know if the drives are married to the boards?
Again, the problem is irritating. The chip is a solid green. The Wii will turn on and operate the drive, but I'm not getting any video or audio output. If I had short circuited something, I sure wish it would be super obvious and not let _anything_ work. At least then I'd not be so beside myself.

Does the disc still spin up?
You may have just knocked off the bluetooth card, this will cause the "no display".

It might sound daft but have you made sure that the ribbon cable and the other plastic connector are tightly slotted in? I had this problem and when I opened up my wii again I noticed one of them wasn't fully plugged in.

Edit:
[ Update ]
I got this problem sorted out thanks to a few threads in here and by a post from member: FlikStik. I opened the rest of the Wii and pushed down on the Bluetooth card which then clicked. Now I get a picture coming out of the Wii, although I haven't checked for sound yet. :D
Thanks!

Hi Tommy83,
I am having the same problem Skallenia is having with his Nintendo Wii. In my case, I have a Japanese Wii that was shipped to me via Sea Mail and arrived in two months time. I received it in an opened case with the motherboard exposed.
Long story short, I tried to boot up the Wii to test it and did not get any picture or sound. I've checked the motherboard for any loose parts and found nothing suspicious.
The question I was going to ask is how would I know something is wrong with the bluetooth card? If there is any problems with it is there a way to mount it back on?
Thanks,
Dave

As an update: I swapped the drive on a new wii and everything worked fine. I never tried to pop the bluetooth back in, that very well may have fixed it and not caused me to lose all of my VC games!
However, swapping drives with mobo's seemed to work. My Wii's been awesome ever since. My guess if it wasn't the bluetooth card, it was that I pinched a wire and it shorted the board when I tried to put everything back together the first time and had the red light error.
