Wireless power button! I almost have it!

I may have figured out how to make a remote power button for my Gamecube! I had it all wired up, and with 9 volts attached to the remotes reiever, it was lighting up my leds and turning on the fan! When I put 12 volts on though, the reciever fried... :( . I figure itll take 12 volts to jump start my cube. As soon as I can get it to work, Ill post a tutorial!

Ill be off to radioshack tonight to look for a new reciever.

Ok, bad news..... I fried the reciever to the remote I was using... If anyone else can help me figure this out, I would appreciate it!

So far what I have done it rig the power switch on my cube to the wires that send power to the motor in a rc car. When I have done that, when I press the go button, the gc comes on, but only the fan and lights, as I can only get to 9 volts without fryng the reciever. I have fried two by now.

in theory, if I can get 12 volts running through there, then I could start the cube. What I did was rig the wires that led from the batterys to a dc socket, so I could plug in a cord going to my wall, because if I had it running off batterys, as soon as they died, the cube goes off.

My problem is, essentially, finding a reciever (with a remote) and the reciever must be able to have 12 volts run through it. I heard somewhere that a guy did it with a Garage door opener... I havent tried that route yet. Any help on this is appreciated.

I don't know exactly how your system works (please explain a little better), but here are some tips:

Use a relay as a switch and use your remote to active the relay. Good thing about that is that all the current is running through the relay and not through the receiver (which might have caused it to fry). Also you can use multiple voltages now. So if you'd use a voltage regulator like a LM317 you could downregulate the 12V to 9V to power the receiver and relays while the cube itself still gets 12V.

how much do you think it will cost to make a wireless set up like this? seems cool but i dont have alot of money. all went to buying my qoob and mini riteks :(

I did it! I had a lot of help from a friend, but I did it. Ill wirte up a tut on it, it should cost under 30 bucks, depending on how spiffy you want to make it look.
