Basically I don't really know much about PS2 hard drives but I would like to get one. Can anyone give me any advice and how do I store games on one?

To use a hdd on a Pstwo slimline you'll need team Xtender's HD connect - its an IDE connector for a HDD on the PStwo slimline.

Will it affect the laser or anything, I've read about lasers dying.

Do I need any type of mod chip with the hard drive?

you can use a backup copy of hdadvance with a modchip or you can just use a retail and not use a modchip at all and backup retail games.

So if the game is the original version (not a back up) I can copy it to the hard drive without a mod chip.
Also how much space on the hard drive would a game take up?

YOU ARE SAYING YOU CAN DOWNLOAD GAMES DIRECTLY TO THE HARD DRIVE WITHOUT A CHIP? IF SO, THAT IS COOL LOL. I ALWAYS THOUGHT I HAD TO HAVE A CHIP IN ORDER TO DO THAT. I HAVE A FLIP OLDER VERSION PS2 AT MY HOUSE & I WANTED TO ADD A HARD DRIVE TO IT. BUT DIDNT KNOW IF I HAD TO PUT A CHIP IN IT IN ORDER FOR IT TO WORK. ALL OF MY PS2'S HAVE A CHIP OF COURSE THIS IS GREAT NEWS, THANK YOU. JUST ORDER A 400GB MAXTOR HARD DRIVE FOR MY FLIP TOP PS2 & ANOTHER NETWORK ADAPTER TO GO WITH IT. PLEASE SEND ME A REPLY TO: WILLYWONKAFCTORY@AOL.COM OR JUST SIMPLY REPLY TO THIS SITE, THANKS. :)
