ok please don't get mad at me.. I spent hours trying to understand the gbamp and then the nds hombrew. I plan on getting the gbamp, but I want to know whether if i'm going to be able to play nds backups or not? (by using the compact disk)
hmm.. i could maybe also use the supercard? the difference between it from gbamp is the cheat system and save support right? geeze and its gonna cost about $35 more :(

It is unlikely the supercard or gbamp will play DS roms, the supercard has a limited memory for storing the roms, limited to the largest size gba game useable which is 32MB/256mbit (which it copies the ROM off the SD or CF card into volatile RAM memory before launching them- I am told the copy then lauch process is just too long to make it viable to even load small NDS roms straight off its memory, but such claims have been prooven wrong before.....)
The gbamp, while more possible because the CF is accessable directly from gba programs (ie the movieplayer), the hardware itself is getting dated and hase even less onboard hi-speed memory than the SuperCard...

*sigh* i'm confused now. I'm gonna wait for g6, but i was wondering why everyone keeps talking about this.. "passkey" I've only learned about the passme mod. So "exactly" what is a passkey and why do we need it?
oh and from cubenoob he said "g6 cant handle the multiboot loader right. So if you have 2 games on it (gba_save) and try to save one then the other the last gamestate will overwrite the first."
is this true?

well hi element,
it was not the g6 that has problems with the multiboot loader but the neo. So wehn you have 2 roms loaded the last rom you have played will overwrite the savegame of the first game. The multiboot loader was designed to work for homebrew apps only so there is no support for saving games. And the neo team has ripped this release and made it their own. Maybe they added a line or two to make saving possible. So they did with the passme, which they also ripped. A passme in its original state is nothing more than a chip with a CPLD which can be programmed to load homebrew apps. The idea is that you attach an original nds game to it and it sends some bytes of the header to the ds so that it can confirm that an original game is inserted and then the addresses from which the data is sent to the ds are altered and lead to the gba slot. This is necessary because the key which is sent to the ds initially to verify that an original game is inserted is not known yet. So the neo team most likely reprogrammed the cpld to make the "magic key" (thats how they call their version of passme) only be recognized by some roms patched by a group called GST who work for them. So its not possible for other flashcard for GBA to load nds roms. And the g6 team also are working on a modified passme, which they call "DS Passkey". What is not known yet is what roms (the GST roms or the raw dumps) will work with it. But this will be known very soon.
So hope this will clear up some things for you.

The u-disk seems to be another brand which is similar to the filesystem of an usb stick.

doesnt neo/xg call their system U-disk (except without the hi-speed writing support that g6 is using?)
