cd02, flashing still has benefits even if you have a slot-1 card. For instance, you can get rid of the Health and Safety warning screen, improve Download Play compatibility if the receiving DS is flashed, and gain bricker protection.
Sverax, FlashMe needs about 3% written to get the recovery code written, so you can't use the emergency failsafe code. This leaves you with three options:
1. Use PPFlash to restore your firmware, which requires soldering skills and some parallel port hackery.
2. Since you have a DS Lite, you can recover your firmware by using a BIOS swap trick as described at http://www.scdev.org/forum/index.php?topic=3931 though this requires that you have another working DS Lite
3. If you do not wish to do this yourself, an SCdev member named Bitblt will do this process for you for $15 plus shipping and handling. It's cheaper than paying for a new DS at least. Bitblt's profile is at http://www.scdev.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1578 if you wish to contact him.

just use the recovery mode function, it was some button combination, and you can flash further.
i also got a ds lite which crapped out at 1% but i could just resume the flashing process after using the button config stated in the flashme readme file.

is it a+b+select+start and do i press that and it goes on or do i hold those buttons while powering on and does flashme have to be on the root of the card... and last but not löeast is there any chance it'll work?
Edit: just read that the keys are start+select in version 8.0

You can try if you want. It is Start+Select in the latest version 8a, which I'm guessing you were installing. Hold the buttons on startup and see if you get the R4 menu at all.
