UKResistance has published some hardcore statistics relating to the sales of videogame hardware in the UK. The figures show the immense growth that the UK games industry has experienced, but interestingly the Xbox 360 clearly leads the home console market this year with 3.14 million units sold in comparison to 1.57 million for the Wii (limited by supply perhaps) and 930,000 for the PS3.

I find it hard to believe that the 360 sold 3.14m in 2007 (6 months) in the UK alone. Especially since MS only shipped 1.6 million units world wide so far in 2007.

I think the chart is refering to Total games sales, not hardware. But then again the Wii sold in Dec 2006 and shouldn't be zero.

I find the figures very interesting compared to the world sales from other sources as it suggests that the figures banded about are incorrect.

An example from the vgachartz compared to this is 1.07 million ps3's sold to other of which 0.93 million where sold to U.k. alone so that means only 140,000 ps3's sold to the whole of europe and australia and the rest of the world that is not japan or america. This shows that all these figures banded about can't be trusted and probably is the same for every console out there.

It is not that the 360 sold 3.14 million in 2007 it is that it has sold 3.14 million up to 2007 (that includes 2006 sales).

I guess the reason why the Wii has no 2006 sales listed is because the figures were released in 2007 mixed in with early 2007 sales.

Looks very good for the Wii, and suprisingly good for the 360. Hopefully the PS3 will get a price cut like in the US (though don't expect a £100 drop, even an equivilent £50 is probably unlikley) so it can boost it's sales and maybe get some more bloody games.

The 3.14m is game sales, because if u look at total consol hardware it states 2.22m. So that means 3.14m is software not hardware. The totals come above and then come the descriptions. 3.14 is below the total games software.

yep, first figures are software.. so 360 is doing pretty good there.. second set of figures are hardware. 360 sold about 270K in 2007 (jan-june). Sony's figure (500K) is PS2+PS3 which explains why they have a bigger piece of the pie.

Publishers are probably happy with the 360 seeing those software sales. PC is still nr.1 in UK regarding software (probably lots of shovelware and sims, sims and more sims)

Also, this chart is incomplete, but it's talking about the first 6 months in 2006 vs same period in 2007. Full data is on gaf

Analyzing the total data seems that the worse is the Xbox.:(

Actually both figures are correct. Its Zeus that is wrong. The image says right on it "Total Games Software" then towards the bottom is "Total Console Hardware". Zeus is quoting the software sales and saying it is hardware sales. In reality the figures show Nintendo is dominating in Hardware sales, Microsoft has some good software sales growth, and Sony is losing market share.

Your right just took zeus's word on it and didn't look properly lol. Then there are some ovious trends that software sales are not in a good position even though old gen games are real cheap to buy in the U.K. at the moment and the new gen is not taking off well. The 360 is clearly on the up due to more choice and better releases, but look at the wii with 1.57 m just shows that nobody is buying games for it considering the console numbers it has sold.

can someone please change this thread name or take down this persons article on here. the truth is the opposite of what he says. Xbox 360 units sold is losing badly in the UK compared to sony or nintendo.

He mixed up the hardware and software section. Every news site i go to is quoting this idiot without looking at the numbers.

it clearly says microsoft is getting crushed in the (units sold) department with the least amount of hardware share!!

I think they have obviously counted all the second or third units that each household has had to purchase due to the red ring problem.

i for 1 have 2 :(
