MS: Forza 2 does not brick consoles, we moved forum threads for investigation

Forza 2 Community Manager Che Chou has hit out at claims that Forza 2 is crashing Xbox 360's by stating that the company has conducted extensive testing and 'confirms' the game itself does not brick the console. Chou says that if you go by forum reactions alone, there is a very small percentage reporting this but there is no software solution. Further to this, Chou defended the decision to effectively delete a thread approximately 900 pages long on the issue by stating it had been moved to the moderator's section for preservation and investigation. Chou claims the thread served no purpose and was violating terms of service.


"We've gone and tested Forza 2 extensively against the hardware and have confirmed that the game itself does not brick Xbox 360 consoles. Although it might seem like the number of instances is high, especially if you go by forum reactions, it's actually a very small percentage that it's happening to and we acknowledge that it's very frustrating. In other words, there isn't really a software solution here.

...As for the recent controversy over a 'deleted' forum thread discussing Forza 2 and hardware freezing, the truth is that I moved it to a moderator's section for preservation and investigation. It has not been deleted (and I can easily prove it). The thread no longer served a real productive purpose other than as an excuse for folks to violate FM.net's terms of service with ad hominem attacks. However, thanks to the thread, we are acutely aware that it is a very real issue with a small percentage of our community but a problem nonetheless."

Even if the thread doesn't serve any purpose it gives people the feeling that they were heard, at least by other people with the same problem. If some people violate your TOS in the thread is your job as a moderator delete the posts in question and not just kill the whole thread for your own convenience.

The thread serves plenty of purpose. They just don't like the purpose it serves (ie. a warning to others until the issue is fixed). Nice weak hiding behind the T&Cs to delete the thread and mask the issue. Way ta go!

in lamens terms they removed the thread because obviously that thread was 90% bullshitters and flamwars between fanboys, seriously thats all that ever spawns from technical issues threads these days. i played forza on 2 consoles and didnt have any issues, sure some can have issues but realistically speaking 900 pages worth? u know atleast 700 of those pages are useless garbage. ok someone voiced on the thread the game had an issue and it was heard, no need to mount it up with garbage.

Ditto, I've never had a problem playing Forza 2 yet all these people claim to have their 360's bricked? Not saying it doesn't do it, obviously someone probably had problems, but if you looked at the forum nearly all the posters saying that they had their consoles bricked by Forza 2 were posting for the first time, sounds fishy to me, generally when you have someone post once and only once about how their 360 was bricked, it's a Sony fanboy trying to start something. But instead of thinking about that, a lot of people on here take that as a chance to bash MS again saying that "MS is so evil, they'll take down your website if it makes them look bad.". Even though Sony AND Nintendo have done the same thing.

You're right, I'm a fanboy because I don't like the way the PS3 is going, you're absolutely correct. :rolleyes: But that's just me denying again, silly me.
