Hello,
I got the D2B chipset with the 3 cut pins.
I took my dremel to remove part of the chip in order to solder the wires to the Wiikey modchip.
I installed everything correctly, everything was measured correctly with my multi meter, but the DVD drive did not work properly.
The DVD drive reacts very short, when inserting a DVD, and then stops.
I removed the modchip with all wires, took desolder wire to clean everything, tested with multimeter for unwanted solder bridges, and the problem remained the same.
What could be the problem here ?
Some fuses are blown ?

Photo of your work would be handy.
Depending on the direction of how you ground the IC casing off, you could have shifted the pins a bit inside and broke something.

Don't think a photo will add value to solving the problem, because the modchip + wires are removed.
When I turn off the power, and turn it on again, normally you hear a long noise from the dvd-rom player, but this time, only 2 short noises, with an interval of 0.5 seconds.
When I moved the dvd-rom player to another wii, the problem also moved.
So the problem is related to the dvd-rom player.
Pins are checked and not shifted.
Are there fuses in the dvd-rom player ?

How do you know, im talking about inside the IC casing. I mainly wanted to look how your grinding work looked.

I would check the fuses. This thread has one pic http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=61079&highlight=fuse
Their is another thread that has some better pics. However their are two fuses that I am aware of. The one colored red in that pic and just to the left of it. That little black flush fuse. Good luck.

Sounds very like my first problem unit, which was also with a WiiKey.
If the 2 short noises are clicks or like clunks then I think you've blown the DVD laser unit.
Normally the drive spins, beeps then loads the disc. If it's just making the two clicks then that's exactly what the first one I had did. It ended up sold to a mate who thought he could fix it.
If it is the drive, there's no real solution found so far, sorry :(
