I was thinking about trying this when I first heard about the new chips, and then someone on another forum brought up the idea a few days ago.

Anyways, from what I have seen there are two versions of the chips with cut legs. One has tiny stubs sticking out of the chips (in which case this would probably work) and one has no stubs (in which case this would not work).

If anyone has a new revision chip that they would like to test this out on, let me know. I bought a new Wii last week hoping that I could test this out on, and I got one of the old Wii's (lucky I guess).

Here is the pen that I am talking about:

Im curious as to how you think this may work:confused:

some of these new revision chips have stubs left where the legs were cut. you use the silver to connect the missing link between the stub and the rest of the leg on the pcb. this would be far less dangerous than using solder and a dremel.

You cannot write in midair... so this is hardly likely to work...

lol, you need a flat surfact connecting the two points so that you can draw a line from one point to the other on it. If there is a chip suspended in the air by the other "non-removed" legs, then as squirrel said, "You cannot write in midair..." Just tap the little bit of the legs that is left on the side of the chip with some liquid flux, then tap it with some solder. You should get a nice little bead on all three leg remnants, which can easily be soldered either to the points on the board where they would have connected originaly, or directly to wires on your modchip. If you were to try the circuit pen method, you will see just exactly what we mean. ;)
