Ok.. bummed out now. Done 5-6 Wii's, just got one with the pins removed. Long story short is that I put the wiikey on and couldn't get it to work, so I tried to back it up a notch and just see if the Wii still worked at all, and it don't. It powers up to the main menu, but even with original it gives the disc error, telling you to eject. I've looked at everything and it's about as normal as I can make it.. my only though is that the chip fried or something when I had it powered with the wiikey soldered to it..

I guess I have a snowballs chance in hell at getting a drive, so was just wonder any of your thoughts or concerns, should I sell it broke, the motherboard, etc.. here's a few pics.

Resize your photos next time, use a thumbnail + click for full size for the best usage.

I don't like the look of your job exposing them legs. Were they cut off? It looks at hte bottom a bit like they wernt.

If the Wii is working you have either bridged one of them pins (check with multimeter and/or microscope) or you have fried the chip.

How did you expose them?

I used a very small flathead, took awhile, but took it off pretty easily. I don't see anything bridged anymore and yes, I think it's the chip fried. Why? Because when I originally had the wiikey on it, I think it may have bridged. And honestly, I didn't have any flux that night and was trying to get the wires soldered to it anyways. Which is where the problem came in. If I had it looking like it does in the photos right now prior to me soldering the wiikey, I think it would work. I was having problems originally, especially not having any flux, which I bought the next morning and made all the difference in the world. Was really asking for advice. Now, having a good motherboard, don't know for what it's worth.. etc. And yes, I know I could "exchange" it, and we won't discuss that here.. but any other ways to recoup from this lose? Saying it is the drive.. and remember it does boot up, etc.. strictly drive related. Thanks.

The image size totally mucks up the page layout, please sort it.

If the chip was fried, I think there would be much worse problems.

I usually say fried as in electrical issues, but this just looks like being a bit rough, flat head screwdriver, bit mental really...
