It appears that these with the legs cut on the chip are appearing in the shops in the uk with greater regularity. i bought 10 wii's this week from 3 different places and they all have the legs cut. such a pain but good things never last forever do they.

Yes cut leg wii's everywhere in the uk now, but to be honest they are quite simple to mod, not really any more challenging than the slimline ps2 vias. Have done quite a few now with no probs at all.

I agree done 9 now without failiure. But it aint that easy with a dremmel. As always If I break/unable to complete the job I replace and mod for free simple as that.

I dont go through the hastle of the dremmel (tried it once) i just open the 3 tracks back up again by soldering directly to the pad and ic with thin wire which in effect replaces the 3 legs, takes all of a few mins to do no probs!!

Tried that once, but need to perfect my soldering skills first :-)

You put a tiny bit of solder on the 'knob' of the old legs, then some flux. Take wire, tin and flux and then solder it to the knobs ?
Why solder it back to the pads instead of directly onto the modchip ?

I've used both methods, and I find the direct solder method better. But it's all subjective. Some people prefer different methods. As long as it works for them it doesn't matter.

The Wii's with cut IC legs are cropping up more and more often in Australia too.
