My wii just stopped working and didn't read any disc and now in the process of me keep desoldering/resoldering the wii the drive seems broken. The disc will only spin if only the top case(the silver thing wit the 5 screws) is off of it completely. I don't even want to bother with this anymore is there a way I can get this repaired or replaced other than Nintendo?

Ouch. You really leaned in to that guy huh? Go to Nintendo's web site. I've read they offer reasonable out of warranty repair.

Well the drive is repairable its just that this is the problem: It won't spin the disc when the drive metal casing is on top. But once I remove it the disc is able to spin. On of the white things thats under the case is touching or holding the disc and sometimes it'll scratch the disc when I try to remove it while the drive is running.

Losen the four screws holding the drive in place.
They do NOT need to be done tight, just enough to hold the drive.
Also make sure you are not putting your modchip + cables or anything else in the drives way when you put it back together.

I can't even do that anymore now all I get is a "error has occured" screen. The little zif connector holder broke off so now the ribbon cable can't stay in. I just need to replace the drive or the wii alltogether. Also the wii can't work without the drive I'll try to go to a site using the wii browser and the screen will turn black and nothing happen. You think Nintendo can repair it or replace it?

You can order the ziff connector fairly easly ...
Or solder the ribbon cable with wires on the drive ~:-) If it only works with the top on, something is too tight.
As for your question, just call the nintendo service desk in your area I suppose. Tell them what happend (or not) and get a RMA. It'll probaly cost you around 50% to 75% or so of a Wii price (guess) looking at that something probaly shorted out on the mainboard too (the error with the channels)
Depending on howmuch you use the Wii, get a 2nd hand off ebay or something. Nintendo recalled ALL store stock, opened them up and cut the legs ...

You'd think the best thing to do is call Nintendo? Would they still rma it or whatever even if it was opened or can't they tell?

Sure they'll RMA it
They'll repair it too
But their service guy will determine that it's an out of warranty repair most likely, and that's going to cost ya ~:-)

Well I think I might have a way to get it fixed. On modchipman.com they have repair services for the wii and other consoles. I sent them a message explaining the condition of my wii and asking can they fix it. I have to send it in for 9.99 first then if they can fix it they will charge the amount to my card and then they will fix it.

Well it might go through good I already received a response from Rick someone from the site via message. He said it sounds fixable but he's not sure. I just hope at least Im able to actually play my wii because my drive is dead, the screen goes black after about 1 minute and a pad and zif connector broke off.

you can also keep your eyes out on ebay or other classifieds for Wiis that don't boot to the screen. Generally for those it's something on the mobo that kills it, however if your lucky, most of them have working drives on them.
I have a broken one a customer just gave too me that has a working DMS drive in it, I tested it in 2 Wii's one was a DMS and the other was D2B and it worked in both, so now I hold on to it for that day I do a drunken solder job and need to replace a customers drive :)
