View Full Version : Wiikey PAL system problem
Hi, I just bought my modified PAL Wii with Wiikey a few days ago. Its seems I cant play and ntsc backups. I tried Zeld, Wii Play and Super Paper Mario. None of them work. Super monkey ball and tiger woods PAL both work perfect., But mario strikers PAL dosnt work either.
Ive ran the Wiikey setup disc and set region override on. Still dosnt work. Is it because I dont have latest formware update from nintendo, due 2 I dont an wirless modem and havent bought a Wii-Fii yet? Or is it the Wiikey? Please help.
Also I just download Region Frii so I can convert them, but thats not the point I thought Wiikey had "partial ntsc support".

Yes, Partial, as in part of the time it won't work. It doesn't really matter what chip you have, cross region support is going to be a bit crap.
The Wiikey will ignore the region code (so will any other), but wether they play is down to the Wii itself.
There must be something wrong with your PAL Mario Strikers, or its not PAL.

Try changing the read speed with the wiikey setup disc from 6x to 3x.
Tried changing the read speed. Still dosnt work. Ive herd of people running some ntsc games on pal consoles, I dont think my console can play any ntsc games. Maybe it could be that I got a new model wii and nintendo disabled region support
Tried converting Zelda with regionfrii, still same result. Zelda comes up when I press start the screen goes black.

If a game from another region doesnt work, its best to give up.
This is not considered a problem since it shouldn't work in the first place, any that work are just a bonus.
You can buy Zelda in PAL you know...
I know I can buy Zelda in pal. Ive just been testing my wii it just seems a bit odd i cant play nany ntsc games. I know the wii isnt meant 2 be region free but i think all consoles should be region free. Sometimes its takes a while for a game 2 come out on Pal format. Well if anyone has had same problems on Pal console and fixed them please reply

They use (or used to use) regions as a way to cover licencing issues across borders. Also there is the fact that PAL and NTSC are not just regions, they are different standards.
And as I said, its not really a problem, if it doesnt work, its very very very very very very unlikely to be "fixed". It's like fixing a dead horse... lol
Apparently the PS3 is region free? never looked into it since I dont care about sony fadstation, but ive seen it said.

The only way down the track you may be able to get all imports to work would be if modchips are made that hack the system bios, then homebrew and a heap of other cool things will happen too. Till then all the modchips available now are drive chips (similar to the Xbox360) that patch info coming off the DVD.
OK I got mario strikers working and it did an update. What is the update is it the lastest firmware, so I dont have to dload it or is it another file. Also now when I put in Super Paper Mario it says "The Game Disc could not be read. Please read Wii Operations Manual for more information". Does this mean its my cd's or burner, not the region?
Also would it mean the update in super paper mario wouldnt matter if I get it running, as Mario strikers is newer and theres no chance of my system being bricked?
