wiikey, works sometimes, doesn't work other times... help

i have a launch day US/CANADA Wii and a Wiikey (genuine) the wiikey seems to work most of the time but i have been having trouble getting resident evil 4 wii edition and mario strikers to work correctly

mario strikers works sometimes but more often then not i get the following error

"An error has occurred. Press the Eject Button and remove the disc, then turn the wii console off and refer to the wii operations manual for help troubleshooting"

if i reboot the machine reinsert the disk a bunch it seems to eventually boot from the game

ive been trying to get resident evil 4 to work and i have thus far been totally unsucessful. everthing else ive burned works flawlesly first time. im using the same spindle of dvd-r as all the other games. i have burned using nero and imgburn. i have burned at 1x 4x MAX. nothing seems to make a difference

im wondering if its possibly the media as i dont have any other disks to test with.

any thought on what might be causing the problem?

Maybe it's your DVD's? I'm using Memorex DVD's and every games work for me :)

just tested RE4 on new media
worked first time.

EDIT: I lied, i posted above while only looking at the disk channel splash screen. it loads to there but when i click "start" i get a black screen with the error
"disk could not be read, refer to the wii operations manual blah blah blah"

I'm burning again on the new media at 1x with imgburn. lets see if that helps

reburned again on the new media "taio yurden(sp?) true blue dvd-r" at 1x with imgburn and it runs

media problem
