Ive just installed a Wiikey into a US Wii and have run the setup utility and have also burnt and run a SNES disc full of games, both of which seem to work fine.
If i burn a Wii Game the Wii tells me it cant read the disc.
If the configuration disc and the SNES games load does that mean the chip is working??
Im hoping this means the brand of disc or my dvd-rw drive is at fault.
By the way its a TDK 880n (DVD+/-RW Drive)
The media is JVC DVD-RW and Memorex DVD-R

I am having the same problem. I just installed a cyclowiz 2 and it plays original discs just fine, but when I put in a backup it says it can't read the disc. I haven't tried to play any snes roms yet, but is there some kind of software I have to install on the wii before I can play backups or should it work right off the bat? Any help would be awesome. Good luck!

Go to the Region override setting and try changing that.
If it still fails try dropping your drive speed lower. (This is a poor option to have to take, but do it for the sake of testing)
If then, review the media you are using, using the same as the configuration disc? Maybe try burning slower and making sure it finalises. (Again this is unlikely to help but you should try).

Your problem is different to his until you confirm the Configuration disc as working, you cant assume the wiikey is working. Currently, its possible there is a problem with the install.

To be honest i have tried burning several games at different speeds including 1X and ive tried finalising the disc but still no joy.
The discs i burnt the games onto are the same disc as i burnt the config onto, i have tried the region override settings and have tried dropping the speed down to 3X.....
So i think it has to be the media....
If the config loads then the chip install was successful right????

Pretty much yes.
Your configuration disc works?
Is it the same brand as what you are using for anything else?
What media are you using?
Honestly "burning at a slower speed" is pants, most of the time people just say it even though they only ever burn slow because others suggest it.

Yea my configuration disc works fine on a JVC-RW, ive tried booting games with region override on and off and ive tried the sound fix on and off, ive also tried dvdr speed at 3X and 6X.
Ive also tried Memorex DVD-R, Memorex DVD-RW, Philips DVD+RW i cant get any of them to load a wii game.
Although i can boot the Snes Roms off the Philips +RW......
Any other ideas?

make sure your using IMGburn and not Nero, for me using Nero at 2x didn't work and when i used IMGburn all of my backups work.

All sorted, i can now play backups.
Just incase you want to know....
Problem; Can boot wiikey config boot disc, can boot original wii games, cant boot backups. NTSC USA WII.
Solution; all the backup iso's i aquired ;) were PAL - Found out after loading each one into RegionFrii. Patched them all as NTSC now they all boot (Except SSX Blur).
Cant seem to get the region overide option on wiikey config disc to work tho (yes i did save the options) so im having to patch all pal games i have.
I cant get the Big Brain Acadamy Degree (NTSC) to work at all tho.... Bad dump possibly??
Thanks drsquirrel for all your help.
