Didn't he test it? lame.

Have you tried the configuration disc yet?

If normal games work, and the configuration disc doesnt work, the chip was probably not installed well, try again.

Doesn't matter what region.. get 1.2 (edit: mistake I forgot only 1.2 has all regions in it, do what it says and everything will be fine)

Only if you are convinced there are some issues other than soldering etc you could try others, but its more likely to be the solder. (after you check the config disc)

Just match the region (PAL, NTSC-U, NTSC-J) and download that file. I'd recommend one of the two that require the gamecube joystick as I KNOW they work. Since you said you got it in England, it's almost got to be the PAL version. I'd try this one... Setup disc v1.0 PAL (requires GC joypad)

I would tell the git he sucks at soldering. The Configuration is not the most likely problem yet.

Download the rar
extract it (winrar etc)
Run the .bat file (the PAL one for 1.2)
Should create a ISO (4gb+ for 1.2, or about 1.35gb for 1.1/1.0)
Burn this ISO with whatever burning software you prefer (if you dont have any, use imgburn, small and simple)

On your PC, it will make a .iso file that you burn.

If you get an error doing the 1.2 iso (if its 7mb) then either 1. do it on a NTFS partition or 2. if you dont know what NTFS is, just use the 1.1/1.0 configuration rar

You can use any DVD-R or DVD+R (single layer).

If I can make a suggestion. If you know a semi savvy computer person, I'd suggest you get their help to decipher the info on these forums. Most postings in these forums are at an intermediate to advance level.

If the config disk doesn't load, bring the wii back to the installer. He should test a backup with you present. If his backup disks work, then maybe it's your media that's the problem.

No, you just need the ISO, its created with the files you see.

Check its either about 1gb or 4gb. Then burn it.

pasith, his installer is a "friend" so probably not so easy lol, but if I paid I would be annoyed at a crappy job. Anyone decent enough would be happy enough to check if it was a faulty install. (Makes me wonder if they even checked it).
