I tried installing my qoob pro chip on two gamecubes with no luck.
I flashed the chip properly with the 1.3 bios, took up the first two slots.
When Installed on the first cube, I would just get a black screen, and the disk would not spin (not sure if its supposed to). Both the qoob, and gamecube's LED's power up, gamecube is orange/red and qoob's is green.
I have re-soldered it 3 times, and from what I can tell there are no bridged connections, except the black wire.
The other gamecube was done the same way, powers up, does not spin, and instead of a black screen, I get black with tiny white lines swirling around. I figure that one is probably toast, and I cannot be 100% certain it worked before the install. So back to the original cube it is for me.
dont know wtf im doing wrong

The Green LED means everything is fine, and the chip is soldered properly... and the disc shouldn't spin / lens shouldn't turn on when its black and you boot...
You only get a black screen if the BIOS isn't booting from the chip.. so It sounds to me like the chip doesn't recognize the BIOS you flashed... you have to install a BIOS to the first slot on the chip, i.e. the far top left one..
If it doesn't work, try to send just the chip back to where you got it to test with another one, because the soldering sounds like it's just fine...
If you want some alternative perspectives to think about, here are a few of my other guesses....
1) Maybe the gold 5V point isn't soldered on very well... perahps if you haven't tried this, use FLUX PASTE as well as SOLDER.. it will make gold points like the 5V stick VERY WELL...
2) The copy of your Qoob Pro Bios isn't good...
3) Something may be wrong with the chip storage..
If it's not a bad chip, more than anything, it's probably 1 or 2...
Try removing the Qoob Pro harness from the chip and see if it switches on... if it goes into the original bios, you know that the cube itself is OK, and nothing is wrong with it..
Maybe some of the soldered wires detached when you put the cube back together... you have to bend the metal frame of the metal motherboard casing where the controller pad harness goes, to make sure none of the cables snag or cut...
If any cable is cut, you can buy KYNAR WIRE from http://www.eurasia.nu for only $2 (and $13 world-wide shipping) for (pretty much) a lifetime supply of wire...
And try download this 10MB file.. it has the bios, as well as other stuff...

Sorry dude, and hope you figure it out.. I'm sure the cube and chip are fine... I just hope you didn't solder any wires to the wrong spot on the board by accident or anything.. that would be a pain in the butt to fix.........

Be sure to put electrical tape over the two points under the heatsink. If you don't, the heat sink can short the two points together causing the QOOB not to work.

I just ordered a Qoob Pro and am having the same issue. I have resodered all the points and still am having issues. the green light come on and so does the orange on the GC. I Downloaded teh above file and it did nto help. I have tried writing all the slots with the 1.3 bios not a fun task. The GC works if i disconnect the qoob so the GC is working fine.
I did have a issue with the blue wire not making contact on the wire harness so i had to hard wire it to the qoob.

It could be a defect with the chip itself. The soldering sounds fine. If you have tried putting GCOS and the Qoob Pro Bios in the first block, using the latest flashers, and it still doesn't boot up, then it's possible the actual chip may be defective, and you might have to try another qoob pro chip itself.. like try connect another qoob pro chip to your harness and see if anything happens..
Sorry guys, I've never seen this problem, but hope you'll get it to work dudes...

You're going to need to do three things to play backups on the GC with a Qoob, or pretty much, any mod solution:
1) Get the best quality discs (i.e. RiData Ritek G04 Mini / G05 DVD-R) and burn at 4x.. won't work at lower speeds, unless POT is ridiculously low.. the GC is designed for 4x, so it will pretty much only work this way.
2) Lower the POT to a relatively low number.. keep in mind, although 80 is the recommended 'lowest', some people find that they have to put their lower to get it to work.. mine is at 65, and I'm playing games 'almost' perfectly... however, the machine is perfectly fine, and no complaints from my lens...
3) Install the Qoob Pro 1.3c BIOS... the 1.0 cannot play backups.. only 1.3 onwards can... To do so, you need to connect the chip's usb interface to the PC, run the qoob flasher, and put the 1.3 bios in the first block, i.e. the top left block... if your qoob chip usb pcb is still on the chip and hasn't been removed from it, you'll have to open up the case to access the chip, and connect it then...
Regardless, if you do these three things, you'll be running them backups in no time..
P.S use IMGBurn to make the burns... it's the best absolutely... unless you find an image that simply won't work in IMGBurn.. then Nero is the only thing that will accept it...

oh sry, i didnt point out my real problem clear enough lol
ok i got the chip installed but no matter wht BIOS i put on there it wont work, the chip powers up and so does the cube but the screen stays black
i was messing with all the flashers i had and when i flashed a bios using that more "advanced" flasher, qoob-13-h1.0.exe, i read it back off and compared the two in a hex editor and they differed by a lil..... when i used the qoob flasher rev1 it came back the same but my chip still wont work...
and ive tried mulitple bios' and none work
thanks for the actual iso help though ^.^
at this point i need to get the chip working first then i can worry bout burned dvds.

I've seen posts that one version of the QOOB flashing software (the Windows app) doesn't work right. Try a different version of the flasher. Can't say what versions work... never ran into it myself - I just remember reading a post on that some time ago.

I'd say the chip itself is faulty.. try replace the chip itself... you don't need to touch any of the cables or harness on the motherboard.. they seem in tact..
however.. if it's fully working.. there shouldn't be an orange light.. ever.. only green..
If there is an orange light, it could be that your wires aren't soldered properly..

The chip... I've never seen an orange light on the chip..
I misunderstood, I thought you meant it on the chip...
Wow.. I can only assume that the chip itself is faulty.. sorry about that...

If you're not using you hi-speed port for the GBA Player, then I'd really recommend using the blue ribbon and breaking off the usb pcb with pliers, then sticking it underneath the port with some sticky tape...
It will really come in handy if you ever want to reflash stuff, and it's just an extra 1-2 mins of work that will save you opening the machine if you ever want to flash...
Just a suggestion...
