I have been hangin round the DMS forums for like a week now and I can't get any answers. Everyone over there just picks and chooses who they want to answer and I can't get any straight answers. What I am trying to figure out, if anyone here knows, since this place is great and people actually try to help you is info on the v12 laser fix. I ordered a DMS4 Lite and the PS2 Slimline "MATRIX FIX" MFD Board (Diode Fix) because that is the laser fix that Divineo recommended for the DMS4. So far all I have got was that I should not have got the diode fix. No one will tell me what I should get instead of the diode fix, what my options are, where to get what I need you know nothing definite. So if anyone is up to date on what you need to get going and be as safe as possible with the v12 PS2 any help would be appreciated. Thank You.

i actualy was wondering that myself but soo far i really dont care about my ps2 cause i have friends that work at video game stores and they can hook me up with a brand new console if i give them my broken one well i really have 2 weeks with my modchip installed and everything i did t myself and iits been working great i saw the subzero fix im pretty sure thats probably the best ive heard what it does and it seems it would be the best you need to find it and buy it but honestly i wouldent really worry much about it my ps2 has been great since the install works just like the day i bought but better can read burned games

I have done A LOT of research since my last post. Just to let you know if you have a v12 PSTwo and you have a modchip installed your laser will go out whether you have a laser fix or not. Some v12s are burning up the laser without the help of a modchip. Right now laser fixes prolong the life of your laser and that is it.
As for the laser fixes, there are several different kinds.
The Diode Fixes are at the bottom of the ladder not giving much protection and constantly going out leaving the laser wide open for a burnout. The Subzero Fix is the latest in Diode Fixes. It ships with the Summ0ne Fix which is a Resistor Fix but is not recommended to be installed. Other Diode Fixes are, the "MATRIX FIX" MFD Board and the NEO-FIX Xii there may be others but these are the more popular.
Next on the list are the Resistor Fixes. The two most popular fixes are the Summ0ne Fix and the Comsoft Slimline Fix v3/v4. I have read that the Summ0ne Fix limits the PSTwo's ability to read CD-R (which in my opinion would be a bad thing because it puts more stress on the laser). Right now the Comsoft Slimline Fix v3/v4 is highly recommended and the Summ0ne Fix is widely used. I don't know if the 2 fixes can be installed together or not.

It has been recommended by several people to use a Resistor Fix and not a Diode Fix because so far the diode fixes have been no good. I have not read about anyone who has tryed the Subzero Fix so I don't know if this one has broken the bad diode fix trend.

me personally i'd stay away from the v12's as the lasers are shitty and die quickly. i'm on my 3rd v12 ps2 because how shitty the lasers are. i'm using the summ0ne fix. haven't yet used anyone other fix besides that.

Well did you think maybe it's the laser fix you are using????
I myself have decided to have somone with more experience than I install my Chip and Laser Fix. I chose the Comsoft Slimline Fix v4 because it was more advanced than the Summ0ne Fix and I had read that the Summ0ne Fix limits the PSTwo's ability to read CD-R (which in my opinion would be a bad thing because it puts more stress on the laser). The Comsoft Slimline Fix v4 trys to detect a problem as it happens but before it causes hardware damage. When it detects the problem it shuts the PSTwo down to prevent any hardware damage. There isn't that much of a difference in the v3 and the v4 other than how you can tell it is installed and working correctly.
