I got a SD Gecko adapter today and tried my 1gb sd card in it. If i try to save emulator games, or try to write a disc to memory card it keeps coming up with errors.

Tried running sdload on my card, but still nothing!

any ideas please?

I'm having the same problems
tried different size sandisk cards

only had the sd gecko work once so far after using sdload

sdload works fine every time but I can't load nes, snes, smd games; can't use the mcbackup utilities.

the sd gecko seems pretty cheaply made

don't know what gives

Since I'm very noob on this, I though SD Gecko would be hard to use. But I was wrong. After following a nice tutorial, I simply turn on, do the swap and play the roms in my SD card. No need to type codes: Only the first time to set it up.
I simply put the roms in my SD card and run them with the emulators also in my SD card. Couldn't be easier! Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, Sonic 2, Tetris, Pacman,... all worked perfectly! I'm very happy with it :)

I'm using a 2GB Sandisk SD card with no problems. Maybe your SD card or your SD Gecko is defective? Or maybe it is not the original one? I got mine from wiibuy ebay store.

so a 2gb sandisk worked?

see i would order some other sd cards (to be honest a 128mb would do me just for saves) but its a bit risky if it dont work...

I think i have tried Iteragal 66x High Speed SD Card, and a 64MB viking SD card and neither worked. was gonna try my 1gb transflash but cant find the adapater for it..

I wonder if anyone has a list of compatable mem cards.

The biggest problem I've had with the gecko has been with certain memory cards. Try switching to another card. I've had good luck with PQI cards

Great part of SD cards works with GameCube memory card port SD adapter (SD Gecko, Nintendo official dol-019 SD adapter,...)

If there is a list of compatible SD cards for Nintendo dol-019, they sure are compatible with SD Gecko since both work exactly in the same way.

cheers i managed to find the format program earlier and it worked! well it worked first time on a friends, and i had to format couple times for mine.. sometimes it crashed when saving to sd card (reset the wii) but think its ok now.

Gotta try my flatmates too, didnt seem to work first time.

Also made a SNESSAVE folder which i read you had to do to save Snes9x.

Cant get save to work in the megadrive/genesis emu says can not mount memory card though... any ideas?

As it's mentionned in the readme, with the genesis emulator, you can only save to Memory Cards.
The snes emulator is the only one which also supports saves to SDCARD.

"can't mount memory card"... Gekko adapter isn't a memory card, you know, even if it uses the memory card slot, you have to use a real memory card if you want to save/load your game

About managing saves with SD Gecko for emulators in GameCube and Wii:

SNES is not the only emulated videogame system you can manage the saves in a SD card.

yeah its been a bit hit and miss, but my flatmates one seems to work fine now (it used to crash/reset trying to freeze but now a month later its working fine) i gave up on my, even though it initially works, it stopped.

Ill have to have another go.

It depends in the SD card brand. Maybe you picked bad ones, or fake ones...

Anyways, did you try Softdev's alternative to fat system?

About SD adapters, there is a SD Gecko Wiikey clone which I'm not sure how well does it work. I recommend to get the original SD Gecko instead. In some stores the wiikey clone adapter is being sold as SD Gecko, so you must be careful. You can see the original SD Gecko at the official page (http://www.sdgecko.com) and it is being sold at Adictron store (http://www.adictron.com)

EDIT:

You can get all the emulators etc at http://www.tehskeen.com (http://www.tehskeen.net)

I forgot about this topic!

Tehskeen (http://www.tehskeen.net) is back so you can get the emulators there :)

(Or also through other scene respected sites such as DCemu (http://gcemu.dcemu.co.uk))
