As a newcomer fishing through all of the threads that have all of the noob questions like "OMG WATS BETTAR" and such, I think I've had a sufficient picture painted of what's available in terms of products to mod my Wii with.

It seems like the best choice for a modding solution is that it's easy to install and upgradable, but it also seems that one of the key things everyone is noticing is that it's great when their upgradable solutions actually *get updates.*

So basically at this point, there's some open source solutions that require a little bit of assembly before install -- which is cool, but I honestly have no interest in dedicating time or energy towards doing so, and then there's clones of WiiKey, and WiiKey itself. If I'm not mistaken, one particular WiiKey clone, Wiidmod, seems to have everything figured out, but my problem with them is that they have no American distributors, so we're back to just the WiiKey? I have little to no interest whatsoever in Gamecube games, so am I set with a WiiKey?

In the opinion of everyone that reads this, is the WiiKey going to *get* an update?

Is it in danger of being "left behind?"

I'm pretty close to just getting a WiiKey anyway.

Well they certainly are alive but I don't think they can pull of the update for some reason. They need help, and lots

I went with the cyclowiz for two reasons.

A) They've already proven support and released an update.
B) Upgrade switch prevents anyone/thing from overwriting your chip unless you turn the switch.

I know they got a lot of bad publicity early because of their botched V1 chips, but I seriously think they are the way to go now.

if you're not that interested in GC games, go with wiikey... wiikey will play ANY wii game, without a hitch. Has had it from when it got released and haven't had a single error, not even once. It just plays everything you throw at it, both originals, backups, and imports

My thoughts exactly. I have one GC game that doesn't work, that I'm only semi-insterested in anyway. Every game so far has loaded the first time, without question.

Seems like v2 is the bomb.
