ok, its almost June, does anyone have any info on the Xecuter cases, like how much longer we have to wait, any cool features, etc?

double post = no no. Rather than posting the same thing someone else posted a while back, find that thread and post something like "Yeah, I know, It's almost june". Bumping is bad but not as bad as double posting. And when we have more info, I'm sure it'll make the news so just keep your eyes peeled.

SORRY, I knew about the other post too, if you look on the one about the xecuter realese date, you'll see me in there. I was really trying to get some people to get back into this topic though, it seemed that the old one kinda died. Sorry for the inconvineance, but does anyone actually know whats going on with those xecuter cases

They're probably perfecting their case. They were waiting for the release of the xcm case so they could beat any problems with that and the hushcrap case. I'm guessing this is going to be a top notch case, but I can see where you're coming from. The anticipation just kills doesn't it :D

yes, yes it is, especially now that I actually have a chip in my GC, and I would like to stillplay my full sizes without taking the top off.

I know, you get afraid that you'll mess up your cube so easy but once you do it, it's like you want to do it again and show everyone how good you are :D. I had to reinstall my viper in my new cube and it was SOOOOO much easier using the flux. I'm never going to solder again without it.

well if you really want a lid theres 2 options available right now. i have a hushtrap case..and im very happy with it. the quality isnt as bad as some will try to tell you it is. its actually quite well made..the plastic is the same quality as the original case. everything fits perfectly fine. the lid opens up very smoothly and is about the same speed as the original. closing it though isnt as smooth..but not a big deal. the xcm cases it looks like are about the same as the hushtrap cases. not better not worse..id say theyre pretty much even. the xtender cases though look very promising....if i remember correctly they will have a slot on the front to allow removing full size discs which would be very very usefull. thing is..when are they coming out? perhaps theyre waiting for the hdd addon to come out..they did say they might add a port on the back to accomidate that. who knows..would be nice if they gave out more info.
also glad you successfully soldered your chip in. its not hard at all. more people should take the chance and do it themselves. i find it quite fun. and yes..flux is a must. :)

Actually, there are 3 options:
Chop up your original lid like me :D
Cheekymonkey released a tut:

Very easy mod to do, get out your Dremel with a cutting disc, grab 2 grades of wet and dry and voila you have this:

more of a cutting guide than a tut, but pretty straight forward.

Nice job you've done there. I'm also thinking of dremeling the case for full size DVDR. Do you have any trouble getting the disc out? Also, any way to keep your lid closed? Thanks!

At the moment its the best choice because the alternatives are pants. The DVD slides in and out no problem, once you get the hang of it (goes in diagnoally to the front).
My lid is manual because I prefer that to the magnet as you have to have a small lip (see waffles 3rd pic) and magnet that I didn't like the look of.
Good mod and its easy.
