World famous film director, Peter Jackson has revealed through an update, just where he's at with the recently shelved Halo movie. Jackson expects renewed interest in the project once Bungie's upcoming blockbuster, Halo 3 launches on the Xbox 360 and the whole world gets caught up in the phenomenon that is Halo.
It's now been reported that Jackson expects renewed interest from Hollywood studios 20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures once the 360-exclusive launches on September 26.
Jackson and Fran Walsh would be involved again in a Halo only if Blomkamp is the director. "We wouldn't want to do it with anybody else. It'll be Neill's call."
Doesn't look like the Halo movie is out of the woods yet then.

I think Halo has a great and intelligent storyline and would make a great movie. Half-life as well, but Socom... the characters are a little lifeless. You can make any Navy Seals movie and just add the title Socom to it. It's generic.

I would see it, not expecting it to be any good obviously but I'd see it anyway.

Exactly. Despite a lot of people on forums, especially MC, saying they hate Halo, that doesn't change the thousands of Halo Tournaments held OFFLINE every month.
I wouldn't want a HL movie, they'd **** it up and I'd never forgive the studio doing it, which would make me miss a lot of good movies from them. Or I'd have to pull a Jay and Silent Bob and go to Hollywood to stop them.
SOCOM...watch Navy SEALS? There's no real story with SOCOM because it's always different, a Rainbow Six movie would do better than SOCOM because at least Ding has a backstory.
Videogame movies I want to see that they ARE making:
Clock Tower
Silent Hill 2
Splinter Cell (It's in CG so that's good)
And Kain...do you have an obsession with John's penis? I think that's the 3'rd time I've heard you talk about MC's wang.

HAHAHA...you do realize the Rainbow game series is based directly off of Clancy's Rainbow novel, right?....right!?
You're right though, Ding does have backstory...he's only been in 4-5 other Clancy novels. You know, like his other pretty famous character, Jack Ryan (both Harrison Ford and Alec Baldwin played him in movies).
Why they would use the video game, when they have a FULL NOVEL to base a story around is completely beyond me.

Halo has my nod, not just cause I like the game but because Peter Jackson would be involved. LoTR's was excellent and I liked King Kong, though they could have cut it down a bit shorter. Having Weta do all the effects work would make it that much better. The game has a great futuristic story with great enemies and a BMF as the hero.
Perfect summer movie.

I think it's funny that someone would badmouth a Halo movie and then suggest SOCOM. LOL. I think most games could become good movies if done correctly, but unfortunately they fall into the hands of dumba** writers and directors. Halo could be a fascinating movie, on the premise of "Peter Jackson", you know, the guy mentioned in the topic of this thread. It wasn't like they said "Uwe Boll has a renewed interest in the Halo movie." Then I would of accepted the comments whole-heartedly. I pretty much see SOCOM movies every Saturday night on the Sci-Fi channel. Marines come in, split up individually, scratched their heads as they disappear one by one. Then, when down to the last two, they realize they are under attack by either a mutant crocodile or slimy alien. But instead of calling for backup, they decide to corner it and blow it up with dynamite they just happen to find laying in the middle of the jungle(Usually guided by some absurd plan a-la the A-Team). One guy sacrifices himself to save the other, but no, the creature is still alive. Open ended for SOCOM the movie 2.
