Just went looking around the net, found this link via EurAsia. Anyone not wanting to drill holes in their Nintendo Wii but want the PIC to have easy access for updating, then here's something to look at.

This is a really good design. If one were handy enough, they could even make a board with alternate chips (atmega8l, etc.). I like the small design of the PIC chips, but the atmegas are a better chip in general.

So essentially, it's a quicksolder board that leads into a wired connection which runs outside of the wii and has another board to mount the pic with? My only concern with this would be the fact that it's quicksolder. From what I've seen on these boards, the majority of people suggest using a wired install should they want to take the chip out. Quicksolder is obviously much more difficult to remove than a regular wire install. The other thing I think of when I see this is that it looks like someone is just trying to find a way to make money off a chip that's meant to be free. I do like the idea of a mountable board on the outside of the wii though rather than just mounting the connector which usually requires modifying the case in some way.
